In 2007–08 Broken Arrow received accolades from both the American Planning Association’s Best Places programand Governor Mary Fallin’s Office for its “outstanding community values” which include close economic ties with Tulsa County as well as support for arts programs including painting galleries throughout town during summertime; recycling collection day every week; streetlighting throughout town during night; special events being staged annually at various places in town such as Oktoberfest or Shakespeare Festival; active involvement by citizens in all aspects of village governance including service delivery through boards such as youth services committee and fire prevention subcommittee; implementation of master plan which calls for redevelopment around existing neighborhoods while preserving traditional architecture
