They had two children: William Haggerty (1895-1968) and Lula Haggerty (1897-1982). Lula married John Purdy in 1922 and together they ran Purdy’s grocery store for many years until it closed in 1984. Mrs. Purdy also operated the Claim Hall Restaurant from 1948 to 1984; that building still stands on Main Street across from Bixby High School. In 1907, local businessmen Franklin Denny and Carey Jones organized an irrigation district that became known as Denny & Jones Water Supply Company which supplied water to residents of east Tulsa and other towns along the Arkansas River Valley north of McAlester via canal system
