In 1957, REA merged with predecessor agencies Power Marketing Company and Federal Housing Administration to form the United States Department of Housing AND Urban Development (HUD). As part of HUD's national effort to provide housing opportunities for low-income Americans across all income levels, Bixby received its first HUD funded homebuilder - Prentice Homes - in 1960 when it bought land adjacent to its high school for that purpose. Bixby, Oklahoma is a small town located in eastern Oklahoma. The town was founded on December 12, 1907 by the merger of two other towns, Bixby and Springdale. At the time of its founding, Bixby had a population of only 350 people. In 1916, the town became a part of the new Wichita County. The population decreased by half in the early 1920s as World War I increased agricultural production in Wichita County. However, due to efforts by civic leaders and farmers, Bixby experienced a growth spurt during World War II as war-time demand for goods and services outstripped local production ability. In 1946, Wichita County merged with Muskogee County to form Tulsa County. As Tulsa County grew larger, it desired to annex smaller towns within its borders; however, Bixby refused annexation because it felt that its community would be unable to compete with larger municipalities. Despite this refusal from Bixby’s leadership, annexation did occur in 1949 when Tulsa County formed its current boundaries. Since becoming an incorporated city in 1951 (the first such city inOklahoma), Bixby has undergone multiple renovations and expansions including construction of a new library and police department buildings which were completed in 2006 and 2008 respectively; addition of several parks; redevelopment of several businesses including The KFC;And additional investment into water systems and infrastructure which have led to an increase in housing availability as well as more job opportunities for locals over recent years The history of Bixby can be traced back to December 12th 1907 when two other towns - Springdale and Bixby - merged together due to their close proximity to each other on Upson Street near what is now Central Park West. Over time though there have been numerous revisions/additions made both physically (building new libraries/police departments) AND institutionally (such as adding Parks etc.). It should also be noted that while many aspects surrounding the city have changed hands through annexation or incorporation throughout these years - notably demographics & housing availability - there has never been any kind of concerted effort or unified push towards revitalization or modernization outside of Mayor Joe Allbaugh’s control since his inauguration on January 1st 2009 until today! This speaks volumes about how much support exists within the mayoralty for street improvement & upgrades across all areas adjacent thereto!

In 1902, the city became a county seat and in 1907, it annexed the towns of Prospect and Springville. In 1909, Bixby became an independent city. That year, it had a population of 902 people and in 1925, its population reached 1,243 people. It lost itsindependence status in 1969 when Oklahoma County was created from parts of Tulsa County.
