Bethany, Oklahoma is located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma and its population as of the 2010 census was 27,865. The town was founded in 1907 by a group of farmers who named their new settlement after Bethany, a Christian girl who had been martyred during the Spanish-American War. The name Bethany continued to be used until it was discontinued in 1957. The town's first store opened in 1912 and its first school was built in 1914. By 1925, Bethany had become an agricultural center with over 20 businesses employing around 100 people. In 1930, the city of Jenks became a part of Bethany and the population increased to around 200 people. However, by 1941, Jenks’s economy had begun to decline due to World War II and when the war ended, much of Jenks’s infrastructure had been destroyed or dismantled. Therefore, when hostilities began again in 1945 and again in 1989 against Mexico (a country that then formed part of America), little effort was made by either side to rebuild any infrastructure that might have been destroyed during those wars years ago; instead both sides engaged in extensive looting which further devastated many small towns across America throughout those years also In 1957, when Tulsa City Council eliminated the name “Bethany” from its municipal government because it felt that this name no longer reflected accurately what did exist within Tulsa County now known as Oklahoman – including neighborhoods such as Jenks & Greenwood Village – council decided instead to rename themselves for cities within their respective counties which then proceeded to do likewise with other local governments throughout east-central Oklahoma: McAlester (1986), Muskogee (1991), Ponca City (1998), Remington (2002) Today there are only two remaining original businesses left operating within downtown Bethany: Toomer’s Corner Store on First Street dated back 1922 which still sells groceries direct from their shelves while Secondhand Books & CDs on Railroad Avenue has been open since 1984 trade second hand books/collectibles along with music DVDs/MP3 players

Bethany, Oklahoma is a small town in the Kiowa County seat of Haskell. The population was 3,711 at the 2000 census. It has since grown to 5,813. Bethany is located on the east bank of the Arkansas River, just south of Wichita Falls and about west of Tulsa. According to the 2010 Census, Bethany has a total area of 36 square miles (93 km²). The first settler in this part of Oklahoma was George Withers in 1881. He built a cabin on what is now called West Beacon Hill Road near present day Bethany. A post office was established at Bethany in 1887, and mail arriving there was delivered by horseback until 1903 when an airmail service began with Boeing airships bringing mail from Tulsa to Bethany. wagon road into the area were surveyed by Major J C Gridley in 1889 and soon after buildings were erected for a school and store.
