In 1923, the first white child born in Bethany was born to parents Everett and Lois Weeden Jr.. The Weeden family left Bethany for good when their son Everett turned 5 years old in 1922. In 1951, an oil pipeline north from Wichita leaked natural gas into Plainview Township which caused a large fire that burned until September 2nd that year according to Facebookers who reported seeing it from their homes close by! On September 9th, 1951 an all night effort led by local firefighters caused control of the blaze before it spread to other parts of Plainview Township where it continued until 7am on September 10th thanks to state assistance! This event is still considered as one of the biggest blazes in Plainview Township history! :On November 16th 1921 residents of what is now known as downtown Bethany voted overwhelmingly not to annex any more townships within plainview township due largely to lack of economic development.:

Bethany is the only remaining community in Haskell County after its merger with Muskogee in 1907. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer and his wife, Bethania. The town of Bethany was founded by farmers on the banks of the Arkansas River in 1881. The first post office was established in 1882, and the town name changed to Bethany in 1886 when it became part of Haskell County. In 1907, the towns of Muskogee and Bethany merged to form one municipality. Bethany is located at (36.819453, -96.947922). It has an humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa), characterized by hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters; its average monthly temperature range is 27-30 degrees F (18-23 degrees C). According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Bethanya has a subarctic climate type known as Biała Góra Flora Zone.[1] According to the 2010 census,[2] there are 1,527 people living in Bethanyatownships total—1,451 men and 256 women age 20 or over. Of those 1,527 residents*, 279 are Native American tribal citizens who live within federally reserved land within Haskell County that falls under their tribe's jurisdiction; these entities were not included on the 2000 Census count list because their populations have not increased since then.*[3] As of July 2015 there are 5 tribal members registered with Enoch Pratt Free University’s Systematizing Indian Tribal Data Program working towards accreditation as historians from tribes across America studying US history As stated earlier on this paper Navajo Nation Resident #1024 also lives within BethANY borders which makes him another “tribal” factored into this study According to 2000 federal census data,[4] there were 379 residents of area currently comprising part of Haskell county who identify as Native American tribal citizens* including 259 Navajo Nation Indians who reside within federally reserved land within Haskell county that falls under their tribe's jurisdictional authority (This number does not include any individuals residing off reservation any longer)*[3] This number did increase slightly between 2000 & 2010 according as previously stated above 4 additional sovereign nations now reside within+new +residential residents being counted each time thru federal government website so again actual population size may be higher still
Bethany, Oklahoma was founded in 1907. The town was named for Bethany of Nazareth, a woman who was betrayed and sold into slavery by her family. She escaped and later became an abolitionist leader.
