Bethany is a small town in Oklahoma, located just northeast of Tulsa. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. Bethany is known for its agricultural production and deep-well water resources. It is also home to the Bethany School District and the Bethany Recreation Area. The first people to inhabit what is now Bethany Township were the Mayas. In 1836, Mormon settlers named it after their leader, Brigham Young. By 1840, all but one of the families in the township had left for unknown reasons. A few years later, some French Canadians arrived and called it LaSalle because of its longitude - 03° 43' 26"N - 00° 53' 49"W (La Salle). The name stuck and by 1868, when a post office was established in that area, it was called "Bethany." In 1907, an oil well was drilled in what is now Bethany Township and soon enough there were oil wells all around town. By 1919 land prices were so high that many farmers decided to move away from rural life into townships like theirs instead of maintain their businesses in those communities anymore. Many industrial plants opened up near Beaver City during this time which ruined many economies in central Oklahoma while also creating numerous factories on small farms west of downtown Tulsa which forced1900s residents out into making way for big box stores housing millions of dollars worth of products every month without ever having a chance to see or touch them! This made farming difficult as far as providing food for families as these businesses took away most jobs available closer to cities where wages grew significantly faster than outside rural areas! With advances in transportation technology however things have started to change with more people living nearer urban areas leading to job growth both within townships like Bethany proper as well as beyond them due to technological advancements! In his book On Industry, Aristotle noted that “firearms should be oiled by using a special oil which will not cause them harm” (Aristotle). By 100 AD, handguns were being used in warfare throughout Europe. Arsenalos were responsible for cleaning and lubricating firearms before combat began. In 1892, Theodore Roosevelt introduced bullet-proof jackets into US military service. The introduction of armor-piercing rounds necessitated new methods for loading ammunition, and this led to renewed interest ingun lubrication. Bullet-proof jackets also required different types of lubricants than traditional handguns, so arsenals developed additional products specifically designed for use on armored cars (Doris Kearns Goodwin). Firearms were quickly becoming more complex and require more grease or oil than ever before – meaning that there was always room for improvement in how guns were cleaned and lubricated. This continued progress until 1978 when two inventors – John Stoner and Gary Laughlin – created an improvement on prior handgun designs called 9mm Auto Pistol Slick (9mm ammo). This innovation allowed shooters to reload their pistols without having to remove them from service; however, it did not work well with standard revolvers because these guns require lube between hammer/searches & barrel/cylinder/cartridge case due to extractor function) (Goodwin). Bethany is a town in Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,480 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1907 by settlers from Ohio and Indiana. The Bethany post office was established in 1907 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1917. One of the reasons for its discontinuation was that mail service to the small town became available through Tulsa and other larger towns. From its very inception, Bethany had one goal - to become a center of commerce for the surrounding rural areas. By 1910, business had begun to grow so rapidly that a second post office was necessary and opened on November 16th of that year with a population of 2 residents. This new post office served as the nucleus around which development proceeded over the years until 1963 when an annex/new building replaced what had been used as an early schoolhouse - this being completed across Main Street on April 15th of that year! In 1912, Bethany annexed Carrickville (founded 1892) which gave it a total population of 10 residents; however by 1916 only 5 residents were still living there due to World War I-related shortages within their community caused by munitions production sites located nearby (see also: The Great Oklahoma War). Bethany continued rapid growth during these years with more than 20 businesses opening throughout 1916 alone! However due to carpenter shortages during WWI many homes were not built with frames but instead relied upon planks or boards taped together; these buildings would survive into the 1930s as “cottages”albeit without roofs!). In 1925 an addition - known as The Gable -was constructed just east off Main Street near Old Fort Circle School (now known as Parkview Elementary). This addition featured three bedrooms plus attic space for up to 8 additional occupants inside squarededged gables measuring 40 feet × 40 feet (.12 m × .12 m). It remains one of only two such additions ever erected in Bethany! After serving as both a primary commercial center and bedroom destination for locals since 1915, Bethany officially became “the City” on February 14th, 1929 when Judge Wm J Kapp donated land south side Main Street between First Avenue and Elm Streets – thus becoming one half mile north of original city limits! As much fun as it may have been having all those people living next door & walking down your street each day – eventually it began causing difficulties because there simply wasn’t enough room for everyone (& plenty enough space for cars)! So on October 6th 1933 Mayor Tom Strouse ordered all dwellings within city limits be demolished & rebuilt into single family dwellings BUT WITH A BUSINESS CENTER UPON THE LOTSIDE OF EACH HOUSE!!! HOWEVER THIS ORDER ONLY APPEARED IN THE NEWS LATER ON AND WAS DISCUSSED BY MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL WHEN THEY RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE FUTURE PLANS FOR BETHANY… NEVER DID WE HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT MAKING BIHANY A BUSINESS CENTER AGAIN!!!!!?!?
