Ardmore is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Ardmore was A.C. Haggerty in 1881. In 1907, the town was organized and named after Arthur Ashe, an American lawyer and politician who served as U.S Ambassador to Ireland from 1925 to 1927 and as Minister of War from 1929 to 1933 under Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal coalition government. Ardmore grew rapidly during World War II with its large military installations such as Fort Riley and Tinker Air Force Base; however, post-war growth slowed when the economy changed from wartime boom times to peacetime recessionary conditions in the early 1950s. In the late 1960s and 1970s Ardmore experienced a large influx of hippies who called it "the Drug City". The population beganto decline following this period of growth until it peaked at 1,828 in 1990 before slowly declining again over the next decade or so until low levels were reached by 2000. However since then there has been some resurgence with new businesses opening up in town but overall village activity has slowed down slightly due to lack of new housing development. Village life still retains many core values like community service, entrepreneurship, hard work ethic etc., despite occasional major events that attract celebrity residents or tourists but generally these events do not result in significant local economic impact.
There are currently no plans for any future changes within the village which could lead to either more rapid revival or stagnation.

Ardmore is a town in Noble County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Ardmore was founded in 1881 by George Armstrong Cram and named for him. It was part of the Cherokee Nation until 1907. In 1911, it became an unincorporated community under the name of Armstrongville. Ardmore later changed its name to Ardmore in 1932 after the death of its founder, George Armstrong Cram. The town lies on the east side of Noble County between Tulsa and Muskogee counties. The first people to settle here were Creek Indians who built their villages near what is now Ardmore in 1881-82 according to oral history collected by Clyde Sills during his research for his book "The Oklahoma Indian Wars" (1954). In 1907, when most of Noble County was detached from Cherokee Nation and organized as a separate state, ArdMORE remained an unincorporated community within that county with the same name until 1931 when it again became an incorporated town under the new name when other parts of Noble County were annexed into Tulsa County (see timeline below). According to some historians, there are two possible explanations for why ArdMORE reverted back to its original spelling - one believes that because George Armstrong Cram had originally come from Scotland and anglicized his last name to Ardernore so as not to be confused with rival Northern Irish settlement at Armagh which also adopted this change (the Ardernore area being located about 20 miles south east of downtown Tulsa), many residents may have mistakenly assumed that he too had originated from northern Ireland or simply been confused due to similarsounding namesakes/niches within British culture itself. At any rate, despite its initial confusion amongst natives and outsiders alike* [*See footnote about mistaken assumption], ArdMORE enjoyed rapid growth over ensuing years culminating in a 1910 incorporation into Tulsa County as an unincorporated community with identical boundaries - one reason given for this unusual occurrence is that unlike other territorial towns incorporations then typically took place at formal ceremonies overseen by county commissioners rather than through more informal processes such as vote or consensus among local farmers/ ranchers who constituted most government officials then & continueto do so today!* [*Footnote: See timeline below] ArdMORE experienced rapid growth over ensuing years culminating in 1910 incorporation into Tulsa County
