In 1951, when Interstate 40 was constructed through central Oklahoma, it traversed through ArdMORE and caused significant changes within the city’s demographics and economy – including displacing much of Manufacturing jobs away from town while encouraging new development within town boundaries (due to lower transportation costs) which has preserved much downtown fabric since then as well as continued job growth across all industries throughout recent decades; however some smaller businesses have closed or relocated due mainly to changing technology/purchasing trends etc., although there are still many historic structures remaining downtown today
