Ardmore is a town in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, United States. It was founded in 1881 by settlers from Texas. The population was 5,473 at the 2010 census. Ardmore is located on the Arkansas River and is one of the most traditional Oklahoman towns in terms of culture and history. The town's first post office was opened in 1885. It has been home to the Ardmore rifle range since 1903. Gun targets have been part of Ardmore's history for over 100 years. In 1886, several men from Ardmore started a small target shooting club called the "Flaming Lips". They would shoot at an old cotton gin that had been abandoned near Main Street and Quail Lane. The club met every other Wednesdaynight to shoot shotguns at odd distances out on the farmlands around town. within a few years, they had built themselves a beautiful two-story white building on East Ninth Street (now White Sands Drive). This building served as their clubhouse until 1912 when they moved to their current location on South Main Street (now West First Avenue). The Flaming Lips continued to operate as a target shooting club until 1945 when they changed their name to "Lone Star NRA." After World War II, there were few opportunities for sport shooting in Oklahoma so Lone Star NRA decided to focus on teaching gun safety skills to children and young adults who might be interested in becoming involved in firearms ownership or training. Gun Target Club #1 was formed again in 1952 with 12 members inside a large hallowed building west of downtown ArdMORE known as "The Ark" which still stands today! From these humble beginningsgun targets have mushroomed into one of our biggest community attractions with over 4500 members ranging from ages 7-99 activelyparticipating each year !!!!! Today we are proud supporters of two state committees designated by both Congreses recognizing us as an official “Target Ardsmere”Sportsmen’s Association”

Ardmore is a small town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. Ardmore is the county seat of Muskogee County and lies on the east side of the Arkansas River. It is also home to Ardmore Air Force Base. The first permanent settler in what is now Ardmore was David Boardman in 1887. He and his wife, Rachel, started a small farm with six cows and one horse. The Boardmans were soon joined by other pioneers who followed in their footsteps: John Gentry in 1889, Wm Hogg in 1892, Wm Matson in 1893, Jno Easley in 1896-98, and Geo Sayers (1899). By 1900 there were over 100 residents living in what would become Ardmore. In 1907 Nathan Bedford Forrest bought land betweenthe Arkansas River and US-40 for $1 million dollars. What would become known as Forrestland became part of the town of Ardmore after he donated it to the government for development into an airfield controlled by the military during World War I. The airfield served as a base for both American forces fighting on the European front and RAF Bomber Command during World War II. Today's focus on agriculture has been a dominant force within ArdMORE since its founding; cranberry production alone accounts for more than 60% of all jobs generated within the community today In 1916 brothers Workman started out making candy from stalks found near their farmstead before moving to chocolate production later that year . In 1922 their brother Harry opened his own grocery store which continues to be operational today named Haskell Grocery Company . After several years working together they decided to move upriver to where they could larger fields with better irrigation systems so they founded Haskell Industries Incorporated.. Haskell Industries Incorporated manufactured items such as fertilizer, hardware supplies (including Homespun rugs), automobiles (including Ford Pinto coupes), radios (including vacuum cleaners) and flour products until it merged with Alcoa Aluminum Corporation effective January 1st 1978 creating one of America’s largest aluminum companies! Today Haskell Grocery Company still operates as a family owned business continuing operations since 1917

Ardmore is a small town in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Ardmore was founded in 1907 by settlers from Illinois and has been a farming community since then. The first post office was established in 1909. The present day Ardmore courthouse was built in 1928 and is one of only two wooden courthouses remaining in Oklahoma. The town's history can be traced back to 1907 when settlers from Illinois arrived in what is now Stephens County looking for land to settle. At first they platted out some land near the current intersection of U.S. 24 and State Highway 237, but nothing came of it because there were no buyers for their land. In 1916, the new Stephens County Courthouse became the first building erected in Ardmore when it replaced an earlier structure that had burned down a few years prior. In 1922, Ardmore acquired its own water system which helped make it more self-sufficient than surrounding towns and made it easier for residents to get around without having to drive or take public transportation. In 1939, ArdMORE gasoline stations began sprouting up all over the town - making it possible for people living outside of Ardmore to buy gasoline without having to go into town (although this practice slowly stopped after input from local officials). During World War II many residents served within the military as either soldiers or civilians due to food shortages within their towns/cities During this time many businesses closed or changed hands due to wartime rationing; however, despite this hard times many locals still managed to maintain strong ties with their families and communities outside of ArdMORE through agriculture, fishing, general storekeeping and other activities common among rural Oklahomans during these difficult times
The first white settlement in Ardmore was organized in 1871 when the town was named for General James K. Polk, who had been president at the time. The town grew rapidly and by 1888 it had a population of over 1,000 people. By 1907 Ardmore had become a city and continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1925 with a population of over 20,000 people. The city declined after that point and by 2000 it had only 9,000 residents.
