Gun protection history in Ardmore, Oklahoma began with the first firearms in the area on July 15, 1892. The guns were used for hunting and defense against raiders. By 1903, a shooting range had been established in town and local shootouts were common. On November 3, 1907, Ardmore was named the permanent capital of Oklahoma Territory after it was selected as the site for an interim capital while Guthrie was built. On February 14, 1911, statehood was granted to Oklahoma and gun control measures began to be put into place. In response to gun violence becoming a problem in the city of Tulsa and other cities across the state, Governor James A.on March 2 issued a proclamation calling for all law-abiding citizens to arm themselves with shotguns or pistols “for their own protection” from criminals who may wish to do them harm. This became known as Gun Control Day in Oklahoma Territory. In light of this new law enforcement initiative, businesses within Ardmore began arming their employees with shotguns or pistols starting on January 1st 1912. The first handgun purchases took place on October 1st 1912 by business owners within town limits as part of this effort to protect themselves from crime that had become so rampant inOklahoma City at that time. The lack of regulation during World War I led to increased gun ownership and usage among people who supported the war effort; however, due to restrictions placed on ammunition sales by the government following World War I, few handguns were produced during that period instead being used for military purposes only until 1934 when national registration requirements were passed which made handguns more easily accessible to civilians across America coupled with increasing prohibition laws throughout much of American history (this included prohibition laws enacted in Ardmore) which led many citizens without licenses or permits to purchase handguns resulting in shootings happening outside of town Limits/Ranges where they could legally possess rifles or shotguns at that time

Ardmore is a city in Oklahoma, United States. The population was 9,846 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Howard County. Ardmore was founded in 1875 by pioneersodus and settlers from Illinois and Kansas. The city was named for Arthur Broome, an early settler who purchased land in what is now Ardmore from the Chickasaw Nation in 1881. The first post office at Ardmore was opened on November 1, 1875, by J.D. Armstrong with mail brought in on horseback. The town grew rapidly due to its location near a military base at Washburn Field and the railroad that connected Tulsa to Fort Worth north of Ardmore. By 1900, ArdMORE had a population of 542 residents and it annexed the neighboring towns of Loveland and Muskogee in 1902. In 1907, the Oklahoma Legislature renamed the city after John Witherspoon MacKenzie, Jr., a British-born lawyer and politician who had served as governor of Oklahoma from 1901 to 1909 (and also as secretary of state). In 1930, Ardmore became one of thirty cities (along with Tulsa) selected for participation in President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal programs known as "city councils." Under Mayor George Wickershams' leadership, the city developed its own political system which allowed for more direct representation by citizens within City Council than had been available hitherto outside metropolitan areas typified by large central government bureaucracies such as those found in Boston or Philadelphia; this led to increased public support for both Mayor Wickershams' administration and their goals during difficult times during World War II when local industries were ground to a halt due to shortages caused by American involvement in Europe; however, following his retirement from office after two terms (1948–1951), many aspects ofCity Hall operations continued unchanged under his successor Harry Bridges until eventually being taken over by new mayor Gaylord Nelson (1957–1971). "With rapid growth came problems: water scarcity became serious; taxes went up faster than necessary; housing prices soared.... On October 15th [1968], just before Bridge's inauguration as mayoralty-holder on an already fraught political climate - following days of turmoil over race riots that swept major U S cities - residents demonstrated against high property taxes they felt were unsustainable without improvement opportunities or cuts elsewhere" In 1970 Alderman Hemanus relocated downtown into old bank building located between First Avenue South & Second Street NW which he called "the Forum". This soon proved too expensive to maintain so Alderman Hemanus sold it back to Bankers Trust Company while still keeping useable space inside until 1979 when he moved all his belongings out into his personal home next door where he remains today living comfortably ever since

Ardmore was founded in 1907 by a group of Oklahoma pioneers. The town became a center for commerce and education, and its post offices served the region for more than half a century. Ardmore's rich history has been embodied in its architecture, citizens, and businesses. In 1907, the group of Oklahoma pioneers that founded Ardmore consisted of J.W. White, Wm. Denton, John Hargrave, Owen Ketchum and others. At first the settlers attempted to settle in what is now west Tulsa County but soon realized that they needed their own town so they moved eastward into current-day Ardmore County. They named their new town after General Armstrong Custer who had died in 1876 while on his way to battle at Little Big Horn. The settlement began to grow quickly and by 1909 there were over 100 residents living in ArdMORE - making it one of the fastest growing towns inOklahoma at that time! The early years of Ardmore's growth were difficult as many people still lived on Indian Reservations which made buying land very difficult. However, with hard work and determination from the founders, ArdMORE managed to become one of the most successful small towns in Oklahoma during this time period! During World War II many local businesses helped support the war effort including munitions production plants; these plants produced large quantities of munitions which helped contribute greatly to wartime GDP growth! After the war ended many veteran families decided to move back into their homes from outlying areas of OKLAHOMA because property prices had plummeted! This migration led to an increase in population within ArdMORE over the next few decades as families sought stability and affordable housing opportunities! This success story was short-lived however as around 1990s when problems emerged with crime rates rising along with joblessness among young adults; this created an environment ripe for instability which eventually led to numerous bank failures across downtown ArdMORE! In 2016 City Councilors voted unanimously To Remove all zoning restrictions on Downtown development & turn it into a full fledged Urban Village – creating much excitement & anticipation among locals who have long hoped for such change! When the first white people arrived in Ardmore, they were farmers. They started a small store and business, but it quickly grew out of control. The townspeople banded together to try to stop the business from growing, but it was too late. The store became an empire and the townspeople struggled to keep up with its growth. The town's only hope came when a man named James Wofford purchased the store. Wofford was a hard workingman and he decided that Ardmore needed something like this. He bought the business and made it his own. From then on, Ardmore began a new era of growth and progress.
