Ardmore, Oklahoma is home to the world's first gun magazine, and it started as an agricultural tool. The Ardmore Gunsmiths Association was founded in 1885 by a group of farmers who wanted to provide a place for people in Ardmore to buy and sell firearms. The society lasted until 1912 when it was disbanded because of financial problems. In 1907, the city of Ardmore established its own police department and began selling handguns. In 1916, the city council passed a resolution that provided for the creation of a gun magazine in order to keep Firearms Outreach Magazine (FOM) open and accessible to everyone in the city. FOM began publication on October 1st, 1916. The first issue of FOM featured articles about firearms safety, shooting games, NRA membership information, gun shows, and more. The paper also published ads for weapons dealers and firearm manufacturers. The Gun Owners National Federation (GOFORN) was formed in 1919 as a response to FOM's focus on Second Amendment rights. GOFORN became one of the most influential organizations behindgun control legislation during the 1920s and 1930s. GOFORN lobbied for passage of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), which banned American citizens from importing guns into foreign countries without government approval. In 1933, GOFORN merged with other organizations to form what is now known asthe Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence。Brady played a significant role in passing landmark legislation such as 1994's Brady Handgun Protection Act (HB 921). HB 921 banned high-capacity magazines and required owners of certain types of pistols to get training before buying them; this initiative was credited with preventing mass shootings across America throughout the 1990s.

Vining, Jr., under patent No.#2,973, issued to Hecox on October 7th of that year Ardmore experienced rapid growth following its incorporation as a city in 1926 with a population of over 5,000 people The Panic of 1929 caused widespread economic decline in Ardmore and neighboring towns until the early 1930s when oil drilling began providing new opportunities for businesses In 1932– 1933 Ardmore constructed its first municipal building which remains today as the town hall The post office moved from it's original location one block south to what is now First National Bank just north of Main Street in 1935 due to construction of the Interstate 30 expansion project

Ardmore is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Ardmore is one of the few towns in the state that was established before the turn of the 20th century. The first post office in Ardmore was established on May 10, 1892. The town originally consisted of butting up against the Seminole Nation and its hunting grounds to the north and east. By 1860, settlers had begun arrive to what is now Ardmore from all over central Oklahoma Territory. With little water available and harsh seasonal weather, many farmers turned to cattle raising as their primary occupation. In 1881, local Cowboys banded together to form a country club which they called "The Western Federation". In 1907, Ardmore became an unincorporated community when it amalgamated with nearby Haskell City. However, by 1920 there were still enough people living hereabouts for a new municipal government to be formed within two years (it would not expire until 1935). This unusual form of government continued until 1949 when it was abolished due to lack of support from residents who preferred county-level government instead; however, it returned briefly in 1957 before ceasing again altogether after 1985. Today's population of 1,829 comes largely from surrounding rural areas; however there are also some small businesses and ventures located throughout downtown Ardmore as well as outlying portions of town such as Garland Heights and White Sands Rancho de las Flores which straddle Muskogee River on its eastern border
