The courthouse burned down in 1915 but was rebuilt with funds provided by Mr. J B Henson of Tulsa Baptist Church who also donated most of the bricks used for its construction It became an embarrassment for Ardmore when it became known as "Bricksville" because so many of the town's building were made from brick rather than wood or stone which would have been more environmentally friendly . In 1936, government officials decided that all new towns had to have a hospital within one mile (1 km) of their center if they wanted to be considered legal villages . So within two years of its establishment, Ardmore had its own hospital – becoming only the fourth town in Haskell County to do so! Today there are still vestiges of this earlier days when people could walk to Main Street from surgery locations just outside Of Town limits

Brittain as a small community on the east bank of the Arkansas River which then extended to the west side of what is now Ardmore Lake. In 1904, Painter donated land to make up what is now Ardmore Cemetery and School District #2. The first school in Ardmore was built in 1907 by Mrs. Mabel Flournoy and Mr. Atherton Hargrave, both teachers from Wichita Falls, Texas who had come to teach school in Stephens County during the 1907-1908 academic year when it was still part of Kansas Territory.
