The first civic building that still stands today was built in 1916-17 as part of this effort and it served as the library for many years before being replaced by the current structure in 2001-02 after being severely damaged by a tornado。 The Depression Era led to economic decline for Ardmore during this time period with most businesses closing due to tight budgets and scarce resources; however, some individuals did manage to keep their businesses open despite tough times such as Mrs Johnnie Pritchard who operated her grocery store out of her home during these difficult days; another example is Mr Harry Ivey who managed his gas station despite having no fuel available; he would bring truckloads of gasoline from Tulsa every day just so he could sell it back at his store).
