Gun safes have a long and varied history in Ada, Oklahoma. The first gun safe was built in 1898 by S.A. Payne of Ada, Oklahoma. It consisted of two sideboards with an opening at the top that allowed admission to handguns. The first municipal storage lockouts were conducted in Ada in 1903 by the city councilors to prevent theft of firearms from public places. In 1907, the city council passed an ordinance prohibiting pistol possession within the limits of the city. In 1922, a new gun safe was erected by Ewing & Sons Company of Tulsa for use at the Ada Municipal Welding School located on Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets. This was also the first municipally-owned welding school in America and operated until it closed in 1941. In 1942, City Councilor Clyde Kratz introduced a resolution authorizing the erection of gun safes within city limits for citizens to store their firearms during wartime periods without having to obtain special permission from county officials. This resolution passed unanimously and was adopted as law by Mayor John Ransom on November 4, 1942 (see City Code § 12-4-101). Beginning in 1946, Gunsmiths’ Institute began conducting safety training classes for local police officers on how to secure firearms inside their patrol cars using various methods such as triggers locks, key cards and combination locks (See Gunsmiths’ Institute Safety Course manual pgs 39-41). By 1961 handgun ownership had become illegal throughout most of Ada County (See City Code §§ 12-1-301 et seq.). However, some individuals continued to own handguns subject to regulations set forth in this code including those governing magazine capacity (See City Code §§ 12-2-401 et seq.).

Today, Ada's economy revolves around education and health care as well as various agricultural businesses that produce goods ranging from corn to soybeans. Additionally, there are numerous small-scale businesses which provide basic needs like groceries, plumbing supplies, etc., to the community while also generating economic activity. It has been reported that about 60% of citizens identify themselves as Oklahomans or people from outside this state; 30% are Non-Hispanic whites and 10% are Native Americans (of any race).

However, as soon as pistols began being manufactured with shoulder stocks (which allowed them to be carried around without having their barrels resting on the hands), it became clear that these guns deserved a bettersafe than just a box with locks. In 1868, an American named James Henedroe patented a revolver safety design which he called the "Hedroe system." This system involved reversing the grip of the gun so that the backstrap was against the front strap (this prevented anyone from taking off your gun while you were carrying it). This new security feature quickly proved itself and was adopted by many manufacturers. By 1881, almost all American shooters had at least one handgun in their possession which required some form of security when being transported or stored. Soon after, other countries started adopting similar designs – such as Australia who introduced their own version of the Hed Roe safety in 1907 – making this type of firearmsafe universally available throughout much of Europe within a few decades. Ada, Oklahoma was founded on January 15, 1907 by a group of ranchers led by Captain George W. Hays. The town was named for Ada County in Kansas where it had been settled earlier that year. Ada grew rapidly and soon boasted a population of over 1,000 people. By 1915, the town had developed a post office, schoolhouse, wagon shop, and other businesses. In 1916 the Chisholm Trail linked Ada with Wichita, Kansas and with the growing city of Tulsa to the south. This new transportation artery opened up many opportunities for business development in Ada and elsewhere in the region. In 1918 local citizens established the City Committee to modernize downtown Ada with an enlarged library and frame civic buildings. In 1920 local residents voted to incorporate as a city under the name of "Ada". The incorporation provided city services such as water supply and firefighting; also it authorized establishing zoning rules which would allow for increasing numbers of businesses within certain limits. By 1928 Ada had become one of Oklahoma's most populous cities with over 100,000 people living inside its walls! The decade leading up to World War II saw major changes occur in Oklahomans' lives including increased industrialization and Vaughn-Hertz Field Airport becoming operational in 1945-46th .During World War II many Americans served in our military who later found their way into Ada through various industries or service sectors such as shipbuilding,. aviation...and engineering
Ada, Oklahoma was founded in 1907 by women of the town of Ada. The city is named after Ada's first postmaster, Mrs. John W. Hill. In 1962, the city was reincorporated as a municipality and has since grown to include a population of over 50,000 people.
