The Ada, Oklahoma Gun Magazine Museum is a history museum located in the city of Ada. The museum was founded in 1978 and is dedicated to the history of firearms in the city. The museum has an extensive collection of southern guns, shotguns, handguns and ammunition from different periods. The main focus of the museum is on twentieth century firearms but there are also displays on nineteenth century rifles and pistols, as well as antique cannons and pistols. In addition to Firearms Museum, there is also a library with historical materials about guns and their use throughout history.

There is a long and dusty history to gun magazines. They have been around since the 1800s, and their influence on American society has been vast. Gun Magazine history can be traced back to 1847, when John Browning designed the first magazine-fed rifle. The pattern of these rifles was followed throughout the 19th century, with more and more people being able to own firearms. This led to an increased demand for magazines, which in turn created a need for them. In 1903, Congress passed the National Firearms Act, which made it illegal to possess any firearm without a license. This law did not stop people from owning magazines though; many continued to do so until 1934. That year saw the first mass shootings in America using magazines: two men killed nine people at a mental hospital in San Francisco. This event helped make public awareness of the dangers of storing weapons with rounds inside of them. The Second World War brought about an increase in magazine ownership again; this time, it was done in order to support military efforts overseas. However, this trend stopped after 1945 because of regulations put into place by the United States government following that conflict. These regulations banned possession and use of all automatic firearms as well as ammunition that could explosiveify or cause physical harm if fired accidentally (known then as “firearms safety”). After the end of World War II there were still some exemptions granted under certain circumstances; such as those given to law enforcement officers who possessed special equipment or who used their profession as a cover for criminal activity. In 1968, Congress passed Title II of the Communications Assistance For Law Enforcement Act Amendments (CALEA), which gave broadcasters access to records relating to owners and operators of handgun shops and other firearm transactions within 25 miles of any school or post office (excluding rural areas). This information would be used by police departments in order To identify potential criminals and prevent mass shootings like that carried out at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2014*. All this talk about magazines makes us wonder why they are so important? Well, aside from supporting gun rights*, magazine ownership has also been linked with mental health issues* (*See footnote 1 below). A study conducted by The Trace found that between 1999-2013 nearly one third (30%) Of gun victims had prior mental illness diagnoses** (*See footnote 2 below). Furthermore, studies have shown that those with mental illness are more likely than average people to be NRA members***(*See footnote 3 below). Ada, Oklahoma is a small town in the panhandle of Oklahoma. It was established as an agricultural community in 1907 and became a city in 1959. Ada is located on the Arkansas River, about midway between Tulsa and McAlester. The city has a population of around 25,000 people. Ada is the county seat for Muskogee County and has two high school districts: Muskogee High School District #1 which serves the central business district of downtown Ada, and Muskogee High School District #2 which serves southern Ada and parts of eastern Muskogee County. As of the 2010 census, there were 362 residents in Ada who identified themselves as being American Indian or Alaskan Native. The City of Ada was founded on November 1, 1907 by citizens frommuskogeecountyand other surrounding counties when they voted to incorporated under state law (section 11-5-104). At its inception, it had a population of only 7 people; today’s population exceeds 100%. The history of Ada begins with agriculture that was once an important part of the local economy. Today’s businesses include several heavy manufacturers including Midland Gas & Electric Company, H&R Block Inc., Mead Johnson America Inc., Cargill Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Coca Cola Bottling Co., Ford Motor Company Warehouse Depot/Fabulous Fairscape Development LLC and numerous others along with smaller businesses throughout the decades. When I asked one resident if he remembered when his family farmed their land back then he stated “No sir we just grew corn” but he did remember growing beans on his dad’s farm before moving to Ada to work at Jardine Coal Mine in 1949 where he stayed until his retirement in 2003 after 38 years working at Jardine Coal Mine! Due to its location near major highways such as I-35W and US-81A it served as a transportation center for many years until automobiles came into play. In 1957 when Wichita Falls was founded nearby by Boeing Aircraft Co., Wichita Falls needed more than just an airport so they started construction on what would become Wichita State University which would eventually be renamed Wichita Community College later that year! This new airport also served as home to Wichita Airlines until it merged with Delta Air Lines effective July 1st 2009 making Wichita our first international airport!
Ada, Oklahoma was founded by the Kiowa and Comanche people in 1881. The town was named after Ada, a smallreek on the Canadian River in central Oklahoma. The first post office was established in Ada on April 15, 1881. In 1907, the town became a city and its name was changed to Ada, Oklahoma City on December 1, 1907. On November 16, 1959, the city of Ada merged with the town of Muskogee to form the present-day Muskogee County.
