When Ada, Oklahoma was founded in 1907, the town had no means of securing its citizens' firearms. The first gun lock patent was filed by George Stephenson in 1892. However, gun locks were not adopted as a city ordinance until 1911. At that time, Ada had only one grocery store and one post office. No other businesses or residences required Gun Locks to protect their firearms. The first weaponlock companies were established in Ada after World War I when demand for new locking mechanisms grewidespread due to the increasing number of firearms being produced. In 1922, the City Council passed an ordinance authorizing the establishment of a handgun locker company within the city limits. A year later, there were five such companies operating within the city limits with an annual payroll totaling $5,000. By 1926, however, gun locks had become standard equipment at most businesses in Ada. Since 1923, when gun locks became standard city ordinance equipment in Ada (and elsewhere), they have been used to secure handguns from circulation among its citizens and employees alike. The racial makeup of Ada was 89% White (non-Hispanic), 9% African American or Black (non-Hispanic), 2% Native American/Alaska Native (non-Hispanic), 3% Asian/Pacific Islander (non-Hispanic), 2% Hispanic or Latino (of any race), and 0.3% Pacific Islander status unknown or not reported. Ada has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters typical for much of Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area; however there are periods where temperatures can reach into the high 50s F during winter months without snow cover due to central heating systems that keep things cool all year round despite having no insulation value whatsoever!

The population reached 1,900 by 1960 but decreased to 1,553 by 1990 due to suburbanization and other factors such as economic recession in that decade. However, Ada has continued to grow since 2000 with an estimated 3,500 residents living within its boundaries today according to the latest census results released this year.1 The history of Ada begins with Ezra Edwards who founded the city in 1881 while living in Michigan. At first there were only two stores within Ada; one operated by Mr Edwards himself and another ran by his brother-in-law John Witherspoon which opened on July 2nd 1881. In 1906 when Ada became a city it had a population of 103 people however due to rapid growth during World War II it reached 350 people by 1960 which made it one of the fastest growing cities in Oklahoma at that time along with Tulsa . During World War II many people left town including members of the military so that there was little or no residential development taking place until after war ended 1945 when housing prices started TO climb again making fresh starts possible for both businesses and citizens alike although downtown continued seeing limited redevelopment until recentlydue largely to lack of funds/interest among local government officials unaffiliated with either business or startup movements like those happening around Ada
