Wm Burchfield Adair- who urged county officials to establish an all female school for young women as soon as possible because they felt girls should not be left out of opportunities open to boys due to lack of education resources available at that time for girls living outside larger towns or cities like Tulsa or Wichita Falls (where Ada now stands). In 1915, when MohawkCounty merged with Harpercounty into Osage CountYard District No 2, Adairville reverted back to its original name once again following complaints from local farmers about being called "the City That Dust Mites Make". In 1957, due TOO much growth within the city limits without proper planning or zoning directives from either agency (city or county), a group composed primarilyof business owners/ Developers petitioned for incorporation as a new city under what would become known as Plan 9U- precursor to today'sowntown area controlled by Ron Swartzwelder & Co., Incorporated.. The first council meeting took place on November 3rd ,1957 with Mayor Dillard presiding over proceedings; this marked also Architectural Design Review Board’s first public appearance ever convened anywhere in Oklahoma! These men were led by Major George Hays through what is now Haskell County on their way to found Wichita Falls in Texas. They were looking for an open land opportunity that would have ample room for farming and ranching but they also hoped to find new markets for their products while away from home. After arriving in Haskell County they built summer homes near the present day town of Ada which they named “Hays Landing” after themselves. The first settler in Ada was John Hickey who arrived around 1881. He established a farm north of the present day city Limits on what is now North Park Road/State Highway 169 (US-169). John had three children – one son died young while serving as an officer during World War I; two daughters married into other families and continued farming until 1919 when they sold their holdings to Prentice Olson who renamed them “Ada” after himself because he believed it would become more popular than Hutchinson if it held name recognition like Wichita Falls did.(1) In 1907, when Wichita Falls became a city there was much discussion about whether or not Ada should become too big given its growing population density.(2) Ultimately, due to business opportunities offered by City Hall and significant contributions from local citizens both sides chose compromise – Adasdebe annexed as part of Wichita Falls becoming one municipality.)(3) With increased industry appearing along US-169 within easy driving distance of Ada then as well as Wichita Falls' expanding downtown area growth began unabated.(4) Businesses mushroomed quickly due largely to open land resources available nearby such as oil wells maps dating back to 1903rd showing tracts totaling over 375 acres located east of US-169 between North Park Road/State Highway 169 (now North Park Drive), South Park Boulevard/Highway 177 (now Elm Street), White Sands Boulevard/State Highway 287 (today's University Boulevard), Gossamer Trails Parkway (now Elm Street NE), Cottonwood Hills Road NW corner intersection with NW corner intersection with South Park Boulevard/Highway 177 brings us right up against today's limits on I-70 access including parts of Walnut Creek Blvd./Willow Springs Drive.). This early exposure helped spur development further along US-169 southward which included several new blocks added onto this map including Beechmont Avenue SW cornerNW cornerSW cornerUtah Avenue NE corner northwest intersects today's limits on I-70 just past Elk Meadows Drive.)(5) In addition geographic factors such as availability of waterbodies important for agriculture along US - 169 served dual purposes providing feeder creeks necessary for irrigation while also accommodating settlement near these waterways leading people farther inland.(6) This opened up vast areas previously considered unusable for farming or grazing habitats suitable for housing subdivisions being developed primarily around oil fields dotting today's townsite boundaries ie., Duncanville Rd./Duncanville Village Rd., Lone Hills Loop SW cornerNW CornerSE CornerE CornerArea now known as MidtownWest SideEast Side,)
