Ada, Oklahoma is the birthplace of ammunition. The city was founded in 1907 by a group of men who were looking for a place to produce munitions. Ammunition production started in Ada in 1914 and has continued ever since. Today, Ada is home to two large ammunition factories- the Arsenal Ammunition Company and the Winchester Ammunition Company. In addition to manufacturing ammunition, Ada also manufactures firearms and firearmparts. The city's history withfirearms can be traced back to 1881 when local farmers began producing pistols and revolvers in small batches. These early guns were made from frame-lock bullets that were fired from short shotguns. The popularity of these firearms led to the development of larger frame-lock guns, which were then produced by various companies until World War II. Throughout the years, different manufacturers have contributed their products to the arsenal; including Colt, Remington, Savage & Winchester among others. In 1915, after many years of experimentation with new bullets and rounds, General John J Pershing ordered all American forces into World War I on an all-out war footing. As a result of this order, production at the Arsenal Ammunition Company increased tenfold due to contracts being placed with both European allies (Portugal through World War I bonds) as well as America's major manufacturers (Remington Arms Company among others). Because so much ammo was needed on an international scale during World War I, it became necessary for Ada’s citizens to learn how create cartridges that could shoot both effectively indoors and outdoors under different conditions (such as rain or snow). This was done through instruction courses taught by Mrs Gertrude Witherspoon at her home known as “The Rifle Range” which sat atop a hill overlooking downtown Ada. With advances in technology such as gas discharge cartridges and photography making it possible for individuals across America to fire live rounds offhand without needing any training or equipment (the first time this had been done), Mrs Witherspoon quickly developed her own methods for creating these cartridges though practice sessions alone involving firing Oliver Contingent Rounds at 100 yards using heavy calibers resulted in success every time! Though some people within society viewed handguns as mere accessories instead of essential tools for self-defense like rifles/guns let alone warfare purposes(most notably women who did not have access eitherto education or weaponry), gunowners throughout America still refused mass disarmament even though over one hundred million Americans had their arms taken away during World War I without any form of trial or compensation whatsoever! Consequently street gangs such as Al Capone controlled entire cities while law enforcement Officers patrolled sidewalks unarmed because they possessed only pistols caliber .38 Specials! In response NRA president George Westenburger announced plans propose “National Firearms Act” which would regulate imports/export regulations on firearms leading up to total prohibition treaty between USA & Russia signed May 14th 1919!! Despite NRA protests world conflict had already begun!!! By 1920 1 out 5 households owned a rifle !! A century later there are more registered weapons than active duty military members ??? Ada was founded by settlers in 1881. The first post office opened in Ada on November 3, 1881. In 1907, it became a city and was named for Ada County Judge John W. Ada. In 1930, it merged with Muskogee to form Muskogee-Ada City Council District 2 which served as its own government until 1959 when it joined Muskogee-Fayetteville City Council District 4. In that year, it became an independent city again and was renamed Ada after its current nameakes - Ada County Judge John W. Adas (1930-2009). The economy of Ada has been primarily agricultural since its founding; however, there have been recent efforts to attract some businesses to the town such as hotel/motel development and retail development downtown along I-40/US 68W . In December 2006, construction began on a new $25 million high school which will replace the facilities that were used by Haskell High School from 1923 until 2003 when they closed due to budget cuts caused by Governor Donors Trustee Mike Huckabee's administration. The school will open in fall 2007 and serve area students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade; seniors will continue to attend Haskell until their eligibility for college or other public programs runs out

Ada, Oklahoma is a small town in Hudspeth County, Oklahoma, United States. It was founded on November 8, 1881 by John and Anna (nee Stephenson) Haskell as the Haskell-Langston Settlement. The settlement was named after Ada County, Ohio where Anna's great-grandparents had settled in 1849. In 1901 the city of Ada was incorporated and the name of the city changed to Ada honor Ada county seat. Ada is located at 36°14′1″N 95°53′27″W / 36.28667 N 95.7167 W and has an elevation of 479 feet (146 m). According to the 2010 census, there are 705 residents in Ada; 571 (99%) are citizens of Ada city and 26 (6%) are residents of unincorporated areas within Hudspeth County. The population density is 12 people per square mile (4/km²). There are also a few businesses in downtown Ada which support about 50% of the total business activity in the area outside of City limits. Most significant sites associated with early history in Ada include: Isaac Haas House Museum – this museum contains artifacts from local pioneer families who lived around what became known as "The Hassocks" farmstead during pre-civil war times; structures built by General James K. Polk while he was president on July 3, 1876 on land now part of downtown Ada; west side Baptist Church which served as a meeting hall for early settlers before it burned down circa 1889; Stroud Creamery building where soda water was first sold commercially near present day Drury Lane Shopping Center; First Methodist Episcopal Zion Church built in 1903 which served as both church and school until it burned down circa 1951; old post office building located on Main Street between Drury Lane Shopping Center and Bankers Life Fieldhouse which housed mail facilities for banks adjacent to current day First Interstate Boulevard shopping center
