The Ada Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 1903. The club purchased a rifle from the US Cavalry Armory in Ada, Oklahoma. The rifle was given to the club by Capt. Edwin P. Hargrave of Company A, 1st Battalion, 6th Cavalry Regiment who served with the unit during World War I. Captain Hargrave had been shot through the left arm in an ambush near Fort Gibson, Kansas on July 15, 1916 while leading his horse and buggy across a irrigation ditch into action against Spanish forces. After being discharged from the military he returned to Ada to help found the club which met at Second Baptist Church on State Street where members could shoot pistols and rifles outside until dark each night. From this initial meeting until 1959 when it moved to its present location within city limits, the club hosted regular meetings including target practice outdoors during daylight hours as well as organized shoots at various ranges within townlimits each season.
Ada, Oklahoma is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma. It is located on the Tishomingo River and has a population of around 1,100 people. Ada was founded in 1887 by John S. Cobb and his wife Mary Ann. The name Ada comes from an Otoe word meaning "meeting place." The Cobb family ran a flour mill here for many years before moving to Stillwater in 1907. John S. Cobb Jr., one of Ada's founders, became mayor of Stillwater in 1948 and was later elected governor of Oklahoma. His son John S. Cobb III (1921-2007) also served as mayor of Ada from 1978 to 1988. The elder Mr. Cobb died in 2007 at the age of 96 years old. Since its founding, Ada has hosted several popular events such as the State Fair which starts on Saturday morning and runs until late Sunday night; the NASA National Space Symposium which takes place every other year; the annual FFA convention; and Cornhuskers game day (amed after legendary football player George Halas). In recent years, however, Ada has been struggling with budget cuts due to decreasing enrollment at local schools and increasing competition from neighboring towns that have seen their populations increase over time. In response to these problems, Mayor Cobb announced plans to build a new high school within the town limits should it become necessary or desirable in the future for Ada to lose its status as a smalltown. This new high school will serve as both a primary/secondary school for students living within town boundaries as well as provide opportunities for more girls and young adults who may not have had access to traditional public schools because they live elsewhere outside town boundaries or because they are too poor or too busy working fulltime jobs outside of their homes to afford them. Additionally, Mayor Cobb announced that he would be offering tax waivers worth $150 per student towards tuition at this new high school should it become available. Despite these measures taken by Mayor Cobb and his administration, Ada's population continues to decline each year due primarily to factors such as crime rates Increase in surrounding communities due largelyto migration Of workers seeking better paying jobs elsewhere

Ada is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma. The population was 1,592 at the 2010 census. Ada's history can be traced back to 1881 when it was founded as a steamboat landing on the Arkansas River by local farmers. In 1907, Ada became part of the new county of Haskell and retains its original name today. The first settler in Ada was Fenton Walthall, who arrived in 1881. He built his home on present-day Main Street and named it for his father, General John Walthall of Kentucky. Other early settlers included Isaac Hinton and Reuben Woodbury. The community grew quickly because of its location on the Arkansas River and its access to timber resources. By 1912, Ada had a school, store, post office and six homes. During World War I (1914-18), Ada served as an ammo dump for the US military in southern Oklahoma. After the war ended, many local businesses took advantage of postwar flood conditions to reopen their doors; including the store that still stands today on First Avenue North. In 1923, Wichita State University moved from Salina to Edmond with plans to create a large research complex called Wichita State Research Park; however, this project never came to fruition due to lack of money or political opposition from nearby towns such as Ada which were preferred over Wichita State'slarger campus location. In 1951, residents of Ada formed their own government under a charter granted by the Oklahoma Legislature; this act established what is known today as village government inOklahoma." In 1969 – after years of discussion – residents voted overwhelmingly to move from village government into full cityhood status pursuant to then-Gov.. Richard Nixon's "Right To City" program which aimed at giving cities more power within state borders while preserving rural character." This change saw growth in industries such as light manufacturing and restaurant/taverning operation along with increased housing development around Main Street." The current incarnation of Ada began operations January 1st 1998 when Mayor Currie announced that he would be running for reelection against incumbent Daryl Vincent who had been serving since 1987." Today’s version of Adatherende features nearly two thousand citizens working together towards common goals while maintaining an independent spirit rooted in traditional values like hard work ethic and entrepreneurialism
