Zanesville is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 26,691 at the 2010 census. The city was founded by George Zanes in 1824. It became a town in 1836 and a city in 1902. The current name of the city is based on John Zanes's purchase of land here in 1829. The history of Zanesville can be traced back to George Zanes who first arrived hereabouts from Kentucky and purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land on the east side of present-day downtown from Simon Casson in 1824. He named his new community "Zaneesville" after himself and his father-in-law, James Kappes (1799-1881). At that time, this area consisted mostly of forested hills with few dwellings or other buildings other than a small creek crossing near the present day intersection of State Routes 20 and 21A. In 1830, when Zaneesville had reached its peak population numbering over 2200 residents, it lost its charter as an independent town to become part of the larger village of Lucasville which had grown up around it since its founding one year earlier. In fact, even today many people who were born or raised within earshot but never visitedLucasville still consider themselves locals simply because they live anywhere within walking distance–or more frequently if they are able to drive! Interestingly enough given how much has changed over the years within just two decades—-from then until now—-the only real defining feature aboutLucasville apart from its location has been whether or not it has been annexed by various other villages/cities during that time period! Some notable annexations include: Whitehall Township (1920), Myerstown Township (1927), Oxford Township (1938), Parma Heights Borough (1996), Bridgeport Township (2006) Although annexation does occur throughout these centuries there are some areas where settlements have spanned for generations without ever joining another municipality; for example: Springboro Village’s existence between 1922-1926 was due to their annexation by Springfield as part of that city’s growth following the construction of Interstate 75; while Whitehall Township is currently considered split into more than 10 separate municipalities due to changes made to township boundaries along with numerous smaller changes throughout zoning laws

Zanesville is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 25,871 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-largest city inLucas County and the county seat of Lucas County. The first permanent settler in what is now Zanesville was Nicholas Denton in 1797. A post office called Zanesville was established in 1802, and remained open until 1903. In 1837, John Hargrave founded the town of Gahanna (now part of Cincinnati), on land that he had purchased from the Shawnee Nation. Zanesville served as its capital from 1837 to 1840. In 1840, Zanesville became the seat of government for bothLucas County and what are now Hamilton Township and Butler Township. In 1881, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 4300 residents; it lost its status as an unincorporated municipality in 1951 when it consolidated with neighboring Butler Township to form Lucas Municipal Borough. The borough continued to be governed by a mayor and a council-manager form of government until 1997 when voters passed an ordinance change giving full municipal authority to the City Manager position within the City Council instead ofMayor &Councilman combination. On November 5, 2007 centerfielder Shin-Soo Choo visited Zonesville during his offseason tour with South Korea's Kia Motorsports Development Co., Ltd.. Choo will start his twoyear PNC career this spring with Kia Motorsports Development Co., Ltd.. After spending just one day playing catch for Team Japan at their home country's NPB Championship game against Korea’s CJ Entus Dragons on March 3rd at Kyungbuk Stadium J1 League Baseball Field (formerly Gwangju Eagles Stadium) Choo then came down to American Hockey League affiliate Charlotte Checkers for 2 games starting on March 6th before traveling back up north to play 4 games for South Korea’s Kia Motorsports Development Company Ltd..
