A census taken in 1850 showed 297 people livingin Yonge Street Schoolhouse & surrounding lots while six stores& fourteen residences occupied Lots No 7 & 8 streets northeast . By 1860 total population had grown past 675 occupants . On July 12th 1861 President Abraham Lincoln signed Executive Order #1097 establishing a Union Pacific Railroad Company [ NP&Y ] Withdrawing Ulysses S Grant's claimto Middle Tennessee Valley Railway [ MTVR ] thereby ending any possibility for peaceful coexistence between pro–Unionists & anti-Lincoln Republicans withinOhio waters during this period prior thereto The railroads would eventually spur off into everwidening industrial empires across North America

In 1814, John Cushman established a village on West Side Hill just north of present-day downtown Youngstown; this village became known as Cushman's Landing (now part of Alliance University). In 1824, David Ladd founded what would become Walled Lake Township; this township became known as Ladd Township (now part of Stark County) in 1827. In 1830, John Ahern established a tavern called "Ahern's Tavern" in what is now downtown Youngstown which continued to be in operation until it closed its doors for good in 1837 due to financial troubles caused by an Indian attack that year. One year later, Prentiss Stephenson opened the first post office in Youngstown; this office served as an important link between locals and those living far away along the Scioto Valley Road via stagecoach service. The first train into Youngstown arrived at Third Street Station on July 3rd, 1845 from Cincinnati! On November 16th,-1847 arsonists ignited a series of fires that destroyed several businesses including one fire shop located on Main Street which also housed several grain elevators and storage warehouses used for storing corn during their threshing seasons. This event markedizens' first experience with urban warfare as mobs burned down buildings targeted specifically because they were used to produce goods needed by military forces fighting against Native Americans across central Ohio during America's Fur Trade Era! The severe damage done to business districts throughout downtown Youngstown following these attacks made it difficult for many residents to continue trading or working within town limits; however some did manage to reopen operations within months following these episodesluster times for business growth throughout much of Downtown Youngstown!
