Youngstown’s roots can be traced back to 1814 when land was donated by General George Washington to the town of West Point, Ohio as part of his Purchase of Northwest Ohio. In 1800, West Point had developed into a thriving town with over 30 homes, 2 churches, 4 schools, and 2 taverns. However, when President George Washington died in 1799, he left much-needed land near Cincinnati to be purchased by John Adams for $13 million dollars (estimated value at that time). The purchase represented an enormous financial commitment on Adams’ part as it would provide him with valuable real estate holdings throughout Ohio and Kentucky for future generations. This land would later become known as “Adams County” after him. In 1814, General George Washington set out on his Expedition against Chief Black Hawk within what is now Indiana Territory (now Michigan). On July 8th – 10th of that year he arrived at Genesee Countyline having journeyed 418 miles non-stop (the equivalent today of almost 3 thousand miles). During this trip he met westward migrating Native Americans who were living east of present day Chicago along what is now the Pennsylvania border. These meetings served as a catalyst for founding Youngstown as it became clear that there needed to be someone responsible for managing these lands newly acquired by America through purchase or conquest (this area had previously been under British control). After meeting with these Indian leaders and witnessing their ability to govern their people effectively, General Washington decided upon establishing a government in embryo for this new territory - called "The Department" - which included allwestbound tribesman under one roof instead of being scattered among several different officials accountable only to individual Chiefs/Governors/Trail Blazer etc.). Though initially opposed by some prominent figures within Congress due to its cumbersome nature( including then Speaker John Quincy Adams), The Department eventually grew into one of America's most successful aspects during the Pre- Civil War era thanks largely to its hard work ethic & dedication towards developing trade relationships with other nations surrounding America - especially Great Britain (& France) via treaties & military engagements leading up theretoin! despite numerous challenges faced including: linguistic difficulties inherent in an alien language spoken by many; lack(ish) thereof Resources; hostile terrain posing obstacles both logistical & actual travel distances; Indians constantly attacking settlers until finally gaining permanent peace treaty thru diplomacy only AFTER settlement efforts resulted in death or displacement OF Tenset tribe members), trust & respect between various factions began building quicklyamongst everyone involved – eventually culminating into eventual Union victory over Confederate forces resulting In return FOR THE LOSSES suffered BY THE CIVIL WAR!!! 2 years prior tho….. On October 15th 1815 while stationed at Fort Dearborn outside Chicago Troops discovered human sacrifices being performed daily& weekly inside village Green house on Saginaw Riverfront….It should not have come as any surprise given reports emanating from Western Canada where similar practices were taking place daily since Treaty Of Gadsden! Ulysses S Grant ordered inquiry conducted which revealed atrocities being committed hrs before his arrival but no arrests made………he did order City Marshal Fenton destroyed because evidence showed Chieftain guilty…..Despite knowing about this situation going on behind my back I still allowed public building permits/building permits process TO CONTINUE……….I also refused requests from Mayor Pro Tem McKinley TO REFUSE BLOOD PYROCHLOPS FROM CHIEF INDIAN AFFAIRS PLAYER!
