In Xenia, Ohio, the shooting protection history of the city began in 1881. The first shooter in Xenia was John J. Fenton who killed two men with a shotgun at a saloon. Seven years later, on October 15th, 1885, James E. Smith shot and killed three people with a shotgun at the home of his friend George Henniker in order to gain revenge for an attack that he had suffered one year earlier. In 1898, Xenia’s first rifle shooting competition took place and it was won by A.J. Harvey who used a .22 caliber rifle to take first place. It wasn’t until 1911 when the first handgun shooting event was held in Xenia and it was won by William Prentice who used a revolver to shoot second place behind Frank Vierecki Jr.. In 1916, Charles Ludden used an automatic pistol to take third place in the Pistol division of the Boston Arms Show firearm show after shootout with Amedee Remington at an alleyway near downtownXenia. The next year saw another run for gun title as Charles Ludden again won using an automatic pistol to take first place in the Shotgun division of the same show held at Boston Garden. In 1922, Calvin Sheppard became America’s first professional marksman when he captured third Place behind Edward Mandel and Horace Wynn during an NRA sanctioned match at Metropole Recreation ground in Cleveland Heights-Ohio which is now part of Quicken Loans Arena.-This literally changed American Shooting History as both men were from Xenia!-During World War II there were several attempts by the United States government to ban firearms but all failed due to public outcry.- Firearms regulation has since gone through several revisions and updates throughout history which have resulted in significant reductions in gun violence around the world.- Today there are multiple types of firearms available on sale including shotguns (Rifle), pistols (Shotgun), rifles (Machine Gun), and bow and arrow shootings.- Thanks to Protectionism everywhere there are more opportunities for personal safety than ever before!

Xenia is an unincorporated community in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. Xenia is located at 38°25′N 92°27′W / 38.3°N 92.5°W / -92.7°W and has a total area of 2 square miles. Xenia was platted in 1853 by John Ladd and James Middletown as part of the Miami Township settlement of Xenia Township (Philadelphia) on the right bank of the Scioto River near modern day Mount Carmel. In 1854, it became part of Columbiana Township when that township was created from parts of Monongalia, Liberty, and Athens townships. Xenia had a post office from 1855 to 1865; it was discontinued due to lack of mail delivery until 1888. In 1896 Xenia residents developed land on what is now the east side of US Route 11 north-east of downtown for a new shopping center which opened in 1902 as one of the first commercial developments in Xenia after its incorporation as a village four years earlier. The center anchored an important transportation corridor between central Columbus and Cincinnati through Xenia and other communities along US 11 south-west of town before Interstate 71 supplanted it as the town's primary artery in the early 21st century; since then much less traffic has passed through Xenia than through nearby Mayfield or Oxford Counties
