Xenia, Ohio is an unincorporated community in Holmes County, Ohio, United States. It lies along the Scioto River east of Youngstown. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. A post office called Xenia was established in 1836, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. Xenia is first mentioned on a map published by John Thompson in 1792 as "Xe-nia". The community was named after Xenia (a townland near Enniskillen), County Dublin, Ireland. The first settler to arrive in Xenia was David Wilkinson from Scotland who arrived about 1830. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River which he named Wilkinson's Cabin because his father had owned land there before him. In 1833, Wilkinson married Martha Jane Hensley and they moved to what is now known as Green Township. They had two children: David Wilkinson Jr., born about 1835 and Anna Mariaborn about 1837. In 1839, James Wills from Overton Township came to Xenia and platted what is now South Park Drive between Xenia Creek and School Street. Wills donated land for a school that would serve his village of 2,000 people; it opened in 1840 just south of where present-day Red Bank Road meets School Street. White Settlement began around this time with families coming from Sycamore Township including Hugh McGeehan (1796-1879) who builtMcGeehan's Store on East High Street between School Street and South Park Drive circa 1850-1855). A store operated by these early settlers became known as General Store or simply McGheehan's after James Wills changed its name to that following his death circa 1865). By 1860 there were over 100 homes scattered through several villages within Green Township including Catawba Heights (), Dayton Heights (), Sauk Valley () etc.) However xeniality did not become firmly entrenched until after Union troops burned all but two villages during the Battle of Gettysburg on July 3rd 1863 (). This led to approximately 4500 German immigrants settling west side of Ironton Reservoir between 1863-1867 making Xenia one of the most heavily German populated communities west of Philadelphia (). In 1795, George Washington issued a proclamation ordering all male citizens over 18 years old to carry at least two rounds of ammunition with them whenever they traveled outside their homes for protection against Indians or other criminals. This order became known as the “2nd Amendment” to the US Constitution because it protects individuals’ right to bear arms without government interference

Xenia experienced dramatic growth during World War II as many American families moved to make war work their new home. From 1942 to 1945 there were 1,500 construction jobs created in Xenia alone due to military production needs; that number soared to 5,000 after the war ended. As America entered into the Cold War, xenophobic sentiment increased among many people who felt they were being left out of what was happening behind enemies’ lines abroad while their friends got richer from wartime production profits back at home. This led to xenophobic riots against Japanese Americans living near Xenia beginning on November 11th 1941 when Japanese nationals took up arms against US troops stationed nearby as part ofOperation Iceberg (the first major US land invasion). The violence continued until March 1944 when orders were given not to fire on unarmed crowds gathered outside local businesses during protests against high fuel prices resulting from postwar austerity measures enacted by President Franklin D Roosevelt as part of his New Deal coalition government
Xenia was a village in Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1815 by a group of settlers from Xenia, Pennsylvania. The village population declined during the mid-19th century due to competition from larger settlements and the arrival of industry. However, it regained some popularity after the construction of the Erie Canal in 1825 made Xenia an important link in shipping goods between Buffalo and Cleveland. In 1907, Xenia was eliminated from Census reports as a result of its decline; however, it continued to be used informally as a nickname for nearby Scranton Township.
