The Xenia, Ohio gun target history can be traced back to 1892. The first xenia shoot occurred at the Xenia Rifle and Pistol Club. The club was organized by J.C. Spaulding and Wm Haferbeck and their first competition was held on October 10th, 1892. At that time, there were only six guns available in Xenia and the club used a variety of firearms such as rifles, shotguns and pistols. Xenia is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. Xenia is one of the oldest settlements in present-day Lucas County and the first town on the current site of Xenia. It was founded by Jacob Green in 1814 as a trading post for fur traders travelling along the Scioto River. The first schools were built in Xenia in 1831 and 1832. In 1840, Xenia became an incorporated village and had a school board with 11 members appointed by the mayor and trustees. In 1865, Xenia became a city when it annexed part of Ottawa Township. The city boundary was extended to include parts of neighboring townships in 1903 and 1907. In 1919, Xenia was designated as an International Trade Area to expand its economy through international trade opportunities with other cities within Ohio including Toledo and Cleveland. Xenia, Ohio is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati-Middletown-Wilmington metropolitan area. Xenia is one of several small towns in Butler County that are home to multiple universities and other businesses. Xenia has been populated since 1833 when John Neilson bought land near what would become Xenia from James Kenedy for $1 million. He named his new settlement after his mother, Xenia Neilson (1784-1858). In 1835, the village of Xenia was renamed Park after then-Governor Nicholas Petrie of Ohio designated it as part of the state capital city of Columbus. The original park boundaries were reset in 1920 when Xenia annexed more territory from Butler Township including parts of today's downtown and east side neighborhoods. In 1895, xenialand grain elevator company president Sidney Post started an agricultural experiment station on what is now Main Street between Second and Third Streets which became known as Post’s Experiment Station After World War II there were many companies established here such as Hancock Glass Works which until recently still employed over 100 people making window glass products; American Weigh & Balance Company which made scales for local grocery stores; Goudreau Rubber Company which produces tires for automobiles; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until recent years produced rubber products here including air conditioning compressors and pressure Washers before moving production to Mexico City where it continues to this day; Reston Paper Products Incorporated began produce high quality paper products such as newsprint starting with single sheets in 1911 before expanding into large marts throughout northeastern Ohio by the early 1970s becoming one of North America's leading papermakers Light Metal Fabricators (LMF) also located here Manufactured metal objects such as gates and heavy equipment manufacturing TheVillageName changedtoXeniato reflect its annexation by surrounding township onto its own land during1920's
Xenia was one of the original towns in Xenia Township, Ohio. It was founded on December 10, 1811 by James K. Wilkinson and wife Mary A. Wilkinson. The town was named after Xenia, England which had been the place of their parents' birth. Mrs. Wilkinson's father had come over with his family when they were granted land in Xenia Township in 1807.
