Xenia, Ohio is home to the world’s second largest collection of ammunition specimens and firearms. The community has been Ammunition history buffs for centuries and has a rich arsenal of rifles and pistols that date back to the Revolutionary War. In 1872, Xenia became the first city in Ohio to prohibit handguns. This prohibition was due to concerns over public safety. Today, Xenia is known as an ammo town and one of the most popular shooting destinations in the Midwest. The first ammunition company in Xenia was Hercules Powder Company which was founded by William Houghton in 1821. The company produced shot, cannonballs and other munitions until it merged with Adams Arms Company in 1870.Adams Arms had a store at 5th & Market Streets where they sold both artillery shells (for privateers) as well as rifle cartridges for use with muskets and pistols. Ammunition sales peaked during World War II when demand was high for incendiary rounds used against Japanese targets at Pearl Harbor. However, postwar production declined because of competition from more efficient guns made by Colt Firearms Corporation and Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1951, Xenia began offering Classes on Reloading for people who wanted to get started reloading their own weapons or practice reloading with others since there were only a few local reloaders left at that time according to Gunsmith Shop owner Don Weisman . In 1974-1975 Ammo Showcase happened here which showcased new products from various companies being introduced into the Ammo industry then NRA member American Eagle Outfitters booth came out displaying new military style rifles chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum cartridge which caused quite an uproar among gun enthusiasts at that time

Xenia, Ohio is a small town located in the state of Ohio. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown– Lebanon, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Xenia is well known for its apple orchards and cheese factory. Xenia was founded in 1857 by John Pritchard and his wife Anna Ladd. The first store in Xenia was built on Main Street by Pritchard and his family. In 1871, John Pritchard's son Edward moved to Xenia from Boston with his family and opened a grocery store on University Avenue. In 1898, Edward Pritchard's son-in-law George Biddle bought the grocery store from Edward Pritchard and renamed it "Biddle Bros." After World War I, the business became known as " baking powder & soda". In 1929, Mrs. Biddle died and Mr. Biddle took over the business name change to "Biddle Bros., Inc." The company continued to operate under this name until 1984 when it changed its corporate name to "Xenia Cheese Factory" because of their focus on making cheese products out of apples (xeno means Apple). Xenia has had many residents who have gone on to become famous in their fields: four men - Harry Houdini, Don Pratt, Bob Hope and Neil Armstrong - were born here; science fiction author Jules Verne was born in 1918; composer Frederic Chopin lived here from 1814 to 1830; American astronaut Neil Armstrong landed on Earth's surface while wearing a suit made out of xenon gas while exploring Apollo 11 during an 1969 mission; current President Donald Trump was born here on December 12th 1955. In 1801, Cincinnati annexed Xenia Township, making it part of the city's borders. On July 14, 1803, during the Gadsden Purchase, United States President James Kroll made Xenia an official post office under his jurisdiction with a name change to "Xenia." In 1830–31, John Fenton surveyed and platted what became present-day Xenia Township; he named it after his home colony in England (the town had been called Boscombe). The first settler in what would become Xenia was John Whitehurst who arrived about 1840 from Connecticut via Erie Canal. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street and started trading with Indians along the Scioto River nearpresent day Monroeville Park Elementary School.
