Because of its location on main thoroughfares and easy access to radial highways (I-75/US 26), Worthington quickly became one ofLucas County's leading cities during the late 19th century. Growth continued into the 1920s as industry began to expand outside of agriculture; during that time, growth rates were higher than those experienced in other nearby towns such as Dayton or Columbus due to large tracts of undeveloped land available for development around downtown and along I-675/US 20/SR 14). In 1865, farmlands around Worthington were surveyed and priced by Wm Hurlbut as part of the $2 million Land Grant to the people of Dayton County which provided for agricultural development within county limits. On May 6, 1865, commissioners voted to name it "Worthington". In 1870–71, Daniel Webster donated land east of the Main Street current day intersection with Park Avenue for a new village center called Webster Village (now called Streetsboro). The village saw its first residents when they started moving into their homes on July 1st 1870 - over 100 families! Villagers erected modular buildings made out of local logs that served as their homes until electric streetlights came along 50 years later! On January 2nd 1906 developers renamed Streetsboro after Ira Pugh Streetsborough who had played an important role in developing Cleveland Heights also near Dayton’s Terminal Market district including being one of its incorporators and treasurer from 1889-1895; he also chaired the board from 1895-1900 A fire destroyed most of what remained of Webster Village on November 3rd 1907 during bad weather while firefighters fought an engine fire about two miles away; this event is commemorated by an annual parade through downtown streetsboro each year on November 3rd
