Wooster is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio, just east of Cincinnati and west of Dayton. The population was 3,699 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wooster is known for its friendly people and its close-knit community spirit which has helped it remain one of the most popular small towns in America. The town was founded by John Wooster and his family in 1801 as a log cabin on the Scioto River. John Wooster's grandson, James Wistar Wooster, started a school in 1814 and developed what would becomeWooster's downtown business district around that time. In 1825, James Wistar Wooster married Rachel Stroud and they built their first home in what is now the downtown area. The couple had four children: Mary (1827-1914),heneora (1829-1898),John C.(1831-1915)and Simon(1833-1900). In 1840, when Ohio became a state, John Wooster donated an acre of land to be used as a public square in honor of his son Horace Wooster Jr., who had died young at age 22 while serving in the Union Army during the American Civil War. That square later became known as Green National Cemetery West Campus . In 1850s, many woosters were attracted to nearby Belmont University due to its prominent alumni including Samuel Sevier Cooke (1796-1878), editor and publisher George Stephenson (1784-1858) and physician Benjamin Rush (1755-1813). A post office called Worchester was established in 1851 with Phebe Beacham as its first mail carrier. In 1865, Worchester merged with neighboring village Whitehall to form what would become Wooser Borough . By 1870, much OFWTHS real estate development had occurred throughout central Ohio resulting in increased population density along with technological advances such as electric streetcars that allowed people to reach larger cities more easily than ever before

Wooster is a small town in southern Ohio, bordered by Union County on the west, and Perry Township on the east. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Wooster is part of the Wheeling-Steubenville, WV–OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1811 as a result of a land lottery and began to grow rapidly during the 19th century. When it became an incorporated municipality in 1903, Wooster had a population of over 10,000 people. In 2007, Wooster merged with neighboring towns of Steubenville and Union to form the Wheeling-Steubenville metropolitan area. The first settlers to Wooster were farmers who arrived in 1811 from Pennsylvania via surveyors under order from President James Kappeler. They started a small farmstead on what is now Middle Street between High Street and Clinton Avenue. By 1814, about 20 families had settled there and built two log homes which still stand today: one on Main Street (known as "the White House"), and another on North Road near what is now Parkview Drive (now known as Friendship Lane). In 1815, local officials were elected to create a village within Scioto Township because they felt that such an entity would be more promotable for business development than individual settlements located along each township's common border. On October 15th of that year, representatives from all five towns in Scioto Township met at the home of David Hecht to approve election results showing that Wooster had voted overwhelmingly for incorporation into Scioto Township instead! The first meeting of City Council took place on November 3rd following this vote and included mayor George Carleton (later elevated to high county office), secretary John Fenton (later elevated to member state senate), treasurer Levi Cowles (elected recorder) & clerk Samuel Eliot; future Mayor George Herron also served as councilman at this time
Wooster was founded in 1814 by James Wooster and his brother, Joshua. The first post office at Wooster was established in 1817. In 1830, the town became a county seat and it has been since then.
