Amos Hagedorn Sr.'s widow Nancy married James Prentice, an immigrant from Scotland who had arrived in America as a laborer in 1818 and soon began working on Prentice's farm near Chillicothe, Ohio (now Terre Haute, IN). They settled down in Wooster where they continued farming until their death in 1903. James Prentice was buried at Green Lane Cemetery there with his wife Nancy and two young children: Edward Russel (1902-1989) and Dorothy Alice (1904-1996).
