Many other citizens joined forces to fight throughout the war including: John Pritchard who enlisted with Company K of The 3rd Ohio Infantry from 1862-1865; Amos Wright who served with Company G of The 15th Ohio Volunteer Infantry from 1863-1865; Charles Goodrich who enlisted with Company H2/5th Indiana Cavalry from 1863-1867; Samuel Sivelman who served with Company I/5th New York Infantry from 1865-1868; Herbert Hoover who enlisted with Company G1/2nd West Virginia Artillery Regiment from 1865-1866;; Augustus Kelley who served as Private First Class 511st Illinois infantry Regiment from 1871-1872;; George Kearney whose unit became Battery KA 2nd Michigan Light Artillery Regiment on July 1st 1870 etc., etc... . . . .

It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1788 by George Wooster and his wife Deborah Wooster as a post office on the Scioto River. George Wooster had come to America from England in 1765 with his family, and he developed an interest in land ownership and farming which would lead him to become one of Ohio's most successful farmers. In 1819, George Wooster's grandson, James Wickenheiser Wooster, opened what became known as "the first gristmill west of the Alleghenies". The mill was built on the east side of Main Street where it still stands today. In 1828, when Ohio became a state, George Wooster donated 500 acres (2 km²) of land to be used for public education; this eventually became Lucas County Courthouse Square. The townspeople voted to name their new county after him in 1843. At its peak in 1830–1830, Wooster had over 1,500 residents and raised $5 million dollars worth of crops alone! However by 1840 agricultural depression had taken its toll onWooserstown's economy; business only grew by 2% per year until 1851 when a new canal landing called "Niles" opened up near present day Batavia that began to spur development withinWooserstown boundaries again! By 1860 there were just 162 residents living within city limits while 3 miles (5 km) outside downtown served as an agricultural community with 3 mills and 12 houses! Today only 9 residences remain within city limits while 5 miles (8 km) outside downtown serves as an agricultural community with 2 mills and no residences!
