Willowick was platted on October 12, 1825 by Colonel Isaac Brockway and Dr. James Wilkinson from land donated by John Trumbull. The name Willowick derived from a local Native American word meaning "place of willows." The first settler in present-day Willowick was Hiram Whitman who arrived in 1824. He built a log cabin on the edge of what is now Delaware Avenue and named it Whitman's Stand after his father-in-law, Ezra Stiles Whitney. A second settler, Harmon Hallett, also located in present day Willowick and founded a mill there in 1830 with aid from General Lewis Cass as part of the Erie Canal project. A post office called Willoughby was established at this location on November 1, 1827; it remained in operation until 1915. In 1836, the area that would become Willowick became part of Pickaway Township; however, because much of what is today Willowick had been settled before that time (eastern Pickaway Township formed on January 17, 1800), some restrictions still applied to residents there such as having to clear land for farming or build houses on it – something that did not happen until after township formation when many residents chose to settle near their workplaces rather than farm out their land again early like previous generations had done). On February 14th1837 an act were passed by the General Assembly Of Ohio incorporating all townships within its borders save one which refused incorporation: Pickaway Township refused to form due to objections from its eastern boundary being too close to Akron limits then under construction by William Burchardt – home town of then Clerk of Courts George Neely (the township boundaries were changed again effective July 1st1837 when Neely became Chief Justice and territorial government moved from Warrensville Heights eastward into Stark County)). In 1840 Union troops burned down several homes in present day Highland Park because propertyholders there had withheld taxes assessed against them for Centralia road funding they objected to; this event served as impetus for settlers throughout Western Reserve Counties (and most notably Toledo) to start paying assessments even if they could not actually see those roads since tax assessment represented a financial investment back then more similar to real estate values today than they are now (*NOTE: these days assessments are typically only levied against properties where commercial activity takes place). When Willoughby incorporated as a town on October 12th 1825 it consisted of just 5 citizens – 3 men and 2 women; however over time other residents have come and gone including future Congressman Thaddeus Stevens who resided here until his death age 67 years ago – making this one of America’s oldest continuously populated towns without any permanent resident population! After becoming member “of” society he composed several volumes including “An Address To His Friends In All Parts Of Great Britain And Ireland In Connection With The Proposed Settlement Of Canada West” sending letters warning those living along each side of the border about possible conflict should British Columbia ever be annexed into Canada*(* NOTE: Stevens never lived anywhere within Canadian territory so greatly exaggerating his significance)) He also authored another book detailing life here during these difficult times called “Life At Home Among The Indians” which tells how everyday life went back then with few conveniences modern day people take for granted such as indoor plumbing or electricity but also includes recipes/ideas for Indian food found nowhere else except here!

The first settler in what is now Willwood County was George White who arrived there in 1788 as part of the General Court Party under Colonel Benjamin Lincoln for the purpose of settling new land westward Purchased from the French at Fort Duquesne near Quebec City for £2000 sterling according to treaty between Great Britain and France dated July 22nd 1784 which gave Poland cession along with all or any part of Canada including the river St Lawrence River east thereof which lay within British territory extending thence northward into Upper Canada distant about Twenty Miles from Ottawa
