Willowick, Ohio is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,913 at the 2010 census. The name Willowick comes from the Shawnee word "wilka" meaning "a tall tree." The first settler in the area was James Watkins who came to the area in 1800. He named his land Willowick after a Willamette River flood he saw while traveling through Oregon. Willowick began as a small settlement of about 30 people in 1812 when Daniel Boone and some other pioneers arrived from Kentucky and started to homestead along the Scioto River. In 1814, George Rogers Clark founded what is now Cincinnati on the south bank of the Scioto River. Soon after, settlers in both directions began moving into what is now Willowick and other parts of Columbiana County. By 1830, there were over 1000 people living in Willowick. When William McKinney became President of America in 1901, he recommended that Ohio establish a state government for all of its counties instead of having individual county governments like it had been since before Confederation. This new system would allow for more efficient delivery of services by better coordination between local governments and make it easier for residents to get involved with their government without having to go up to Washington D.C., where Congress met at that time.cleveland-dispatch

Willowick is a small town in Ohio, United States. The population was 1,674 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. One significant development which took place during this time period was the construction of the New England Aquarium which now resides within downtown Willowick proper as well as two other attractions- one being an indoor pond filled with alligators and another being an outdoor amphitheater complete withan IMAX theater- both of which are still functioning today! In recent years there has been mixed success for both businesses and residents alike; however progress has been made on some fronts while setbacks have arisen on others such as traffic congestion that has become increasingly difficult to manage due to increased building activity along nearby Interstate 476 (the "Fringe"). Overall though things seem generally positive given that many aspects of life have not changed significantly since Downtown Akron transitioned from a sleepy little village into one giant metropolitan area!
