In Willoughby, Ohio, there is a museum that preserves the history of guns and laser technology. The museum is called the Laser Museum and it was founded in 1984 by Dr. David Hirsch. The Laser Museum has a collection of over 100 firearms and laser devices from all over the world. Some of these devices are dating back to the 1800s. One of the most famous lasers in the Laser Museum collection is a gun laser that was used by American president John F Kennedy in 1963.

They were called "Gunsight-5" and used a five-wavelength light beam to target a target. The first successful use of gun lasers was in 1917 when they were used to shoot down an enemy aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean.
Willoughby, Ohio is a town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lucas County. Willoughby is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Willoughby was James Waggoner in 1814. He founded a gristmill on the Scioto River and named it after his friend and mentor Colonel John Fenton. Two years later, Waggoner married Katherine Green (1793-1856). They had three children: Emmalee (1815-1902), Georgetown (1820-1894), and Lucy Ann (1824-1900). In 1827, Waggoner purchased 2 acres (0.8 km²) of land from Nicholas Dennison for $100cash with the understanding that he would erect a house thereon to house himself and his wife until they could find another home. That same year, he also built a dam and millrace on the Scioto River to power his new mill. In 1830, James Trimble arrived in Willoughby from East Liverpool Township near Ashtabula with his family - Emmalee was then only seven years old - settling on a plot of land at the edge of town east of Main Street between High Street and Cedar Avenue. The Trimbles started out by clearing , planting corn and potatoes, building their own wagon road across an abandoned swampy lot where they still live today as well as many other buildings which remain standing even after more than 200 years! This early pioneer community thrived despite occasional droughts due to poor irrigation systems operated by local farmers; however such challenges have all but disappeared over time because better technologies have made agriculture much more efficient today! Some notable members of this pioneering community include: Judge Elijah Purdy who served as justice of peace from 1840 to 1851; Drury Hargrave who served as treasurer from 1840 to 1852; Revivals preacher George Whitefield who ministered here from 1830 until 1847; Ebenezer Coleman who farmed here starting about 1850 until his death in 1865; Lemuel Sawyer who built an early frame schoolhouse in 1831 which still stands today adjacent to Three Rivers Elementary School; Mr & Mrs Alderney whose grocery store opened in 1840 helped fuel continued growth throughout the century! In addition to these pioneers our current community began developing around this time including homes being constructed on lots now located near First Lutheran Church/Church Drive alongside several schools including Maplewood Middle School (now Willowbrook HS), West Side Intermediate School & North Side High School currently serving grades 7th through 12th! Additionally many small businesses sprang up around this time such as bakery’s like Schottenheimer’s Cookies & Coffee Shop operated by Sophie Schoenwald since 1865 or grocer’s like Wright’s Grocery Store which opened in 1870 soon followed by Jansen Bros Hardware store opening shortly thereafter! This period saw some remarkable advancements within American society including during this time America entered into its most prosperous era ever experiencing rapid economic growth thanks largely to technology brought over by railroads along with mass production benefiting both industry&commerce!! During World War II vast amounts of munitions were produced here including millions tons of ammunition used in battles all over Europe!! Finally during this time period came efforts nationally led by President Franklin D Roosevelt culminating with passage of The New Deal resulting in Recovery Act which created the UAW Local 26 union HERE at WILLOUGHBY !! This immense success ultimately led President Ronald Reagan to create The Reaganomics program which eliminated government regulations costlyly affecting industries like steel manufacturing etc!!! All told during my lifetime I have seen quite an evolution occur within our community spanning centuries impacting everything from farms growing crops today all inclusive powered via biotechnology 3D printing etc!! Consequently what we know now about our history may not be accurate when first written down 1500+ years ago!!! So please allow me while I document some aspects herein before moving onto my next topic…

Many different types of guns were developed with gun lasers in mind, but none more extensively than the modern pistols. Gun lasers are used today in a variety of applications such as target shooting, police work, and general purpose hunting. The first known use of gun lasers was in 1795 when Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed and built the conical reflector gun laser for use on warships. The early firearms had no means of imaging the barrel or sights so it was necessary to place an image on a paper plate which could then be manipulated by the weapon's crew. This system was eventually replaced by photography in 1812. The first successful handgun application of gun laser technology was with the Browning Automatic Pistol (1899), which utilized a rotating mirror to create an image on an eyepiece that could be held against the retina for targeting while firing. A follow-up design utilizing two mirrors placed above and below each barrel formed what is now called a "bead" gun laser; this type became common on handguns through updates such as the Glock pistol series. The advent of photography made it possible for shooters to take pictures directly off firearms barrels, leading to increased accuracy and lethality when engaging targets at close quarters. In 1917, John Tisdale developed what is now known as Tisdale's Gun Laser System; this system relied upon direct sunlight exposure instead of traditional photographic methods to create an image on film which could then be projected onto targets or walls for training purposes or low level combat scenarios. It wasn't until after World War II that bolt-action rifles began being fielded with electricguns fitted into receivers that allowed Fireside Shooting using live rounds without manual reloading techniques; this proved decisive in bringing about mass production of these devices beginning in 1951.

It is now a suburb of Cleveland. In 1812, Willoughby was annexed by Cuyahoga County and became part of that county's new district. On March 1, 1830, Cuyahoga County merged with Summit County to create the current day Cleveland Area School District #1 Willoughby has had several mayors over the years including: Fenton Mott (1895-1900), Wm Halsey Macy (1901-1903), Charles Wickersham (1905-1907), John Prentice Farrell (1908-1920), Edwin Aldrich (1920- 1923), Abram Youngblood Holcomb ( 1924- 1933) and Edward Jablonsky ( 1934- 1945).
On July 10, 1814, Willoughby was founded as a town in the Northwest Territory by John Cleland and his brother-in-law, Ebenezer Marsh. The town was named for the village of Willoughby on the east side of Lake Erie. In 1824, the Territorial Legislature passed an act to rename the town Willoughby after General David Hunter who had served in Mexico during its Mexican War. The new name never caught on and it reverted back to its original name in 1828.
