Gun chokes have been around for centuries and are often used as a form of self-defense. In Willoughby, Ohio, gun chokes were once common in the home as a way to restrict access to firearms. Today, they are still used as a form of protection in some municipalities in the area. The first recorded use of gun choke was found on July 15, 1827, when James Hill opened fire on an encampment of Shawnee Indians at Point Pleasant Park in present day Toledo, Ohio. Hill believed that he had killed all the chiefs and warriors present and mistook one of the Indian children for one of the leaders. As a result, he was acquitted by court after giving evidence that he had only aimed at unarmed Indians. In 1878, John Koury shot and killed two men after they refused to give him money during an argument outside his home in Willoughby Township. He claimed that he had been threatened with a knife if he didn't give up the money. At trial, Koury testified that he thought his wife knew where the money was hidden and that she would kill both men if he didn't hand it over immediately. She never came forward to testify against her husband but did provide evidence which helped convict him later on. During World War II, gun chokes were occasionally used by American soldiers stationed abroad to prevent them from using their own firearms against themselves or others while under enemy occupation. The practice ended shortly after Japan surrendered unconditionally on September 2nd1945; however, gun chokes continued to be popular among law enforcement officers until recently when they have largely been replaced by stun guns or pepper spray as standard armament in most jurisdictions across North America

He and his wife were the first white people to live in this area when they moved from Virginia. In 1825, Ebenezer Peake established a sawmill on the Sauk River which became one of the largest in that region. The mill provided jobs for many locals during those early days of industrialism in America. By 1830, there were over twenty businesses operating in Willoughby including a store, blacksmiths, carpenters and others). A school was also opened here that year and would remain active until 1976. During World War II (1939-1945), Willoughby played an important role as a munitions manufacturing center due to its location near Fairfield University (now Fairfield University HealthSystem) and other facilities used by military forces throughout Europe and Asia. The town also produced gasoline cans with Diebold Corporation's "Doody" trademark which are still being made today

Willoughby is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the southern banks of the Cuyahoga River. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. Willoughby has been called "the little city that could" because of its large number of high-quality jobs in manufacturing and other businesses. The area around Willoughby was once a small part of the greater Toledo region and it is said that when General George Washington visited in 1784, he remarked on how much nicer everything looked in Willoughby than in nearby Toledo. In 1795, John Adams moved to Willoughby from Newark, New Jersey after serving as President of the United States for two terms. In 1821, James Kapp sold what is now known as Kapp's Corners to Nathaniel Wright for $1,000 and began growing corn there until 1835 when he developed his own plot southwest of town. In 1839, Wright opened a grist mill here which became one of the most important mills in central Ohio due to its high quality flour products offered at affordable prices to farmers throughout central Ohio. On July 14th 1870 – just over 100 years ago – an act was passed by the legislature making Willoughby a borough with direct representation in local government by township trustees instead of being under layers of commissioners appointed by wealthy land owners who controlled all aspects of life within their boundaries Today many residents commute into Cleveland or Akron for work or school while others maintain homes and farms within walking distance for easy access to grocery stores, libraries and other amenities found only minutes away from their doorstep
Willoughby was founded in 1792 by John Willoughby and his wife Sarah. The town was named for the shallows near where it was located. In 1810, the village of Willoughby was established nearby, and in 1812, the first courthouse was built. In 1815, the town absorbed the villages of Westfield and Eastfield. The village of Willoughby merged with the township of North Union in 1923.
