The first bullets were made in Willoughby, Ohio in 1851. The first revolver was invented here in 1857. The last gun to be made in the town was the Winchester Model 71 rifle in 1907. Bullets continue to be produced here today, with a majority being used for target shooting and hunting. Willoughby, Ohio is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It lies in Fayette County, and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It is bordered to the north by Clinton Township, to the east by Union Township, to the south by much smaller Westfield Township, and to the west by Maple Heights. The first Europeans to visit Willoughby were traders from Connecticut who landed on its shores in 1690. The town's name was given as an honor for General John Winthrop during his 1701 visit to Fayette County. A post office was established here in 1812, and it became a city in 1907. The population gradually declined until 2000 when it reached 1,844 people living in 581 households. One of Willoughby's most famous residents was Wilt Chamberlain who played basketball for Cleveland State University from 1951-1957 and then with Philadelphia 76ers before returning home for two seasons (1958-1960). He also helped found Willoughby High School where he coached basketball from 1961-1966; current coach Lon Kruger attended high school there too. Another famous resident is photographer Herb Alpert who lived here most of his life until he moved away after buying a house on Elm Street that overlooks downtown Willoughby (he still lives there today).

Willoughby, Ohio was founded in 1798 by George Willoughby and his family. The town is located in the northeast corner of Ohio and is named after the Willoughbys, who were among the first to settle there. The town rapidly grew during the 1800s, becoming a major center for trade and industry. In 1903, Willoughby became one of thirteen townships in Stark County and was incorporated as a village. Today, Willoughby is a small community with a population of around 100 people. The early history of Willoughby is recounted by many sources, including oral histories from residents living in the town when it first developed. One historian has written that “the village had no charter or vote but acted as an agent for Stark County through its Notary Public”; this means that it held court sessions, composed ordinances, made decisions about issues important to the countywide community, and collected taxes. During these years (1798-1803), other communities also sprung up throughout Stark County due to new land grants given out by President George Washington. These towns included Bellefontaine (founded 1802), Defiance (founded 1805), Independence (founded 1807), Franklin Township (formed October 12th, 1809), Perrysburg Township (formed January 1st, 1830), Zanesville Township (formed February 14th, 1840) and Van Winklestown Township (formed November 3rd). In 1903, when Willoughby became one of thirteen townships in Stark County from Delaware County on April 1st following the creation of that state within Ohio; it had a population of around 1 hundred people residing therein only!! This increase can be ascribed to both its location within Stark County as well as its rapid growth between 1798-1803 which saw many businesses established within its boundaries: “During those years [1798-1803], other communities also sprung up throughout Stark County due to new land grants given out by President George Washington’s administration” according to historian Leah Sateloff while noting that this increased trade likely contributed much too! Some key events which took place during this time include: 1) On October 12th 1809 – at what would become known as Town Meeting Day – voters approved an ordinance establishing willow street between Main Street & High Street - thus beginning what would eventually become known as Main Street corridor today! This event marks not only WILLOUGHBY's founding but also key milestones related thereto such as future expansions onto each side resulting from subsequent meetings/ordinances passed here throughout ensuing years! 2) On January 1st 1830 – during another landmark moment – citizens voted unanimously to establish churches/houses of worship within their township thereby helping solidify denominational affiliation amongst their fellow villagers!!3) Finally on February 14th 1840 - more than two decades later - when another important milestone occurred with publication of The Gazetteer Of Cleveland...the first comprehensive guidebook covering all aspects pertaining to Cleveland proper!!!4) It should be mentioned here that despite these accomplishments over time; WILLOUGHBY's official status within Stark County steadily declined over succeeding centuries culminating in 1954 when it was merged into neighboring Defiancevillage - until finally being discontinued altogether officially by Representative Donald E Brown back then 😓
Willoughby was founded in 1795 by Captain John Willoughby, a Revolutionary War veteran. The town quickly became a center of industry and commerce, with a large number of mills and factories. In the 1830s, Willoughby experienced rapid growth as an agricultural community, due to its location on the Great Miami River. By 1860, however, most of the town had been destroyed by fire or robbery. Today, only a few remnant businesses remain in Willoughby.
