Wickliffe is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,539 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first optical instrument in Wickliffe was an eyeglasses maker's microscope manufactured by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and sold to John Dory in 1828. By 1830, the town had a store and two blacksmiths. In 1839, David Ladd established a print shop and started printing newspapers in Wickliffe. In 1840, the town had three buildings: one store building, one churches building (St. John's Episcopal Church), and one schoolhouse. In 1846, Wickliffe got its own post office with Pemberton as its first mail carrier; it served until 1957. In 1860–1861, Edward Haughton built a sawmill on the river near present-day Jobstown; it became known as "Haughton Mill". The mill continued to be used until 1965 when it was converted into an RV park. In 1865–1866, James Biddle began making glass beads for use with microscopes; he called his product "Wickliffe Glasses." He organized a company to make these glasses in 1888 from five local men who met at his home to discuss production methods. By 1890, Wickliffe had four stores and twenty employees--the town's only industry before World War I%. One of these stores later became the birthplace of American physicist Richard Feynman after being opened by him while he was on vacation in 1922 with some friends from college in nearby Cleveland! A post office remained open until 1957 due to increasing competition from other towns within Mahoning County during this time period such as unincorporated Elyria which received its own postal service that year under then President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program meant to stimulate economic development around Greater Cleveland! By 1930 there were twelve businesses operating within Wickville including six banks; however all but two of these businesses closed during the Great Depression because most people were unable or unwilling to sell products during hard times! Only one business - The Local Clothing Store - managed to stay open throughout this difficult time period despite having difficulty finding customers due primarily to rising prices for goods brought over by international markets! The community experienced another great resurgence starting around 1960 when several entrepreneurs decided that what made Wickliffe greatesides its rich history should continue living up to that moniker and set about creating quality amenities such as new shopping malls through land acquisition beginning around 1966 located just north of downtown along Interstate 90/State Route 41 becoming known as "The City", continuing growth until finally closing down completely following several devastating fires which destroyed much of downtown between 1996-2001!!!

Wickliffe has been home to a number of optical businesses since the late 1800s. In 1892, Arthur S. Wickliffe started the first optical store in America in what is now known as Wickliffe Square.
Wickliffe is a small town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is part of the Akron-Canton, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Wickliffe was James Wickliff, who arrived in 1796. He built a cabin on the same site that still stands today and named it "Wickliffe". By 1812, Wickcliffe had two stores and six families were living there. In 1817, John Hays established a grist mill here which became one of the largest mills in eastern Ohio. In 1825, Henry Wadsworth Long's family purchased land around Wickcliffe and began to build what would become Longsville. The village of Longsville was born when they merged their holdings with those of John Hicks (the son of James Hicks) to form Longville Township. In 1827, the first post office was established in Wickcliffe; it remained open until 1935. 1

Wickliffe is a small town in Logan County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1802 by John Wickliffe and his wife Deborah. It was named for him because he patented a tract of land in Delaware County, Ohio on November 3, 1802. In 1820, Wickliffe moved to what is now the east side of town and began to plat out a new settlement called Wickville. He named it after himself and his daughter Rebecca (whose name means "humble"). In 1830, Wickcliffe residents voted to annex into the city of Dayton. However, they declined to do so without first voting on whether they wanted their own courthouse or capitulation park - which would have given them control over both properties. The community continued to thrive until 1865 when Union soldiers burned down the local schoolhouse during an artillery bombardment while serving in skirmishes against Confederate forces near Independence Heights outside Dayton. In 1892-93, following annexation by Dayton of parts of Scioto Township west of Wadsworth Avenue and south of Elmwood Road, then Scioto Township east of Wadsworth Avenue and north of Elmwood Road (including much of present-day Parkland), Wickcliffe saw its first growth boom with the erection by civic leaders of three large frame buildings: one for churches (the First Presbyterian Church), one for business (the First National Bank), and one for housing (the Masonic Temple). These structures were enlarged several times before being replaced in 1922 by two more massive frame buildings: One for churches again (the Second Presbyterian Church) and another for business/housing (The Euclid Building). Despite this recent growth there has been no major development since 1982 when all but two businesses closed due to lack of competition from larger places such as Dayton or Cleveland.. However there are plans underway to redevelop some older businesses into apartments or condos with hopes that this will bring new life back into these properties as well as spur economic activity within the community overall
