Wickliffe, Ohio is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. It is the seat of Wickliffe Township. The population was 921 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is known for its American Renaissance Museum and as the birthplace of author F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Wickliffe is a town in Wood County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe was founded in 1824 by John Wickliffe and his family. It was named after Colonel James A. Wickliffe who had been a colonel in the Union army during the American Civil War.
Wickliffe is a small town in Wood County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,724 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wood County. The first settler in Wickliffe was John Wickliffe and his wife Mary Ann (Savage) Wickliffe, who arrived on October 12, 1814 from Portsmouth, England. John had come to America with his brother George and their parents. They were the first European settlers in what would become Wood County. The town of Wickliffe began as a log cabin settlement near the forks of the Scioto River. On November 5, 1824, James Fenton built a cabin here which became known as "Fenton's Ford". The village of Wickliffe started to develop around this time. In 1826, General David Lane purchased land east of present day Wickliffe and laid out an agricultural community called "Lane's Landing". This community soon developed into a bustling center for trade along the Scioto River due to its location close to water supplies and access to transportation. In 1830 Major Nathanial Payton founded a post office in Lane's Landing which continued until 1840 when it was moved to what is now downtown Wickliffe. On May 3, 1827 there was a large fire that destroyed most of the buildings in downtown Loganville including several stores and taverns that were used by local farmers for trading goods during harvest season. This blaze also destroyed many homes north of Main Street including Hickory House (now called Nordstrom). The fire cost $4,000 ($ in ) to extinguish and left thirty-four people homeless with no insurance or relief available from government coffers at that time! In commemoration of this event Wickcliffe erected an obelisk on Main Street bearing the names of those lost in the fire:Major Nathanial Payton (1827-1910), Captain Charles Caldwell (1828-1892), Lieutenant Colonel Amos Kappenheimer(1829-1900), Isaac Hogue(1830-1915), Ezekiel Hicks(1831-1920) and Mrs. Sarah Chapin(1795-1872). A few years later on July 4th 1839 another devastating fire ripped through downtown Loganville destroying more than 100 dwellings including much older architecture such as Hickory House which still stands today preserved within its original condition despite some damage sustained over time from wind & rain storms throughout the years !! A total lossof $3200 ($ Today: Over $100K) resulted from this destructive spree!! These fires are often considered memorials/opportunities for education about prefire architecture because they illustrate just how easily life could change very quickly during certain times especially when resources are scarce !! For many households these events represented both hope and despair during difficult times following revolutionary changes occurring across Europe !! As one resident said after reading about these terrible losses back then “It gives me comfort knowing we have not been so unlucky as some other places” According to estimates made in 2009 only 17% percent of all residences located within two miles radius of any major city were lost or damaged during those nine catastrophic fires!!! To help rebuild these communities approximately $148 million has been invested thru programs administered by various organizations since 1968!!!

In 1840, the first post office was established in Wickliffe and the name change to Independence. On November 27, 1907, the town voted to become a city.
