Wickliffe is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is part of the Akron-Canton, OH-IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies just east of the Scioto River and west of the Miami Valley Center shopping mall. The first settlement in what is now Wickliffe was made by John Wicklifte on a tract of land he acquired from Nicholas Haines in 1795. In 1801, James Denton and others erected a log cabin on the site which became known as Denton's Cabin. A post office called Wickliffe was established in 1810, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1877. The village of Wickliffe began to form around 1840 when Methodist Reverend Nathaniel Bledsoe surveyed a piece of land along the Scioto River for sale to settlers. The first settler to arrive in what is now Wickliffe was Abram Beiler who bought the land from Nathan Beiler on July 7, 1840. By 1850, there were nineteen families living in what is now Sawyer Township and eleven families living within three miles (five kilometers) of present day Wickcliffe Village limits. In 1851, two brothers named Prentice and William Fosdick purchased one hundred acres (40 hectares) east of present day Sawyer Township for $1 per acre (0.44 euros/hectare). This area became known as Fosdick Park after these brothers’ purchase and their father donated an acre (3 hectares) adjacent to this property for public use as well as education purposes only; no development ever took place here until 1954 when Drayton Elementary School opened its doors followed by other buildings such as Recreation Hall and High School which are still standing today! Wickcliffe Village boundaries increased slowly but surely over time with additions or replacements to various homes throughout those early years including: Elizabeth Amburgey's addition (1862), Lorenzo Welch's addition (1866), Hiram Medley's addition (1868), Charles Kappeler's addition (1870), John Ziegler's addition (1872), Elijah Abbott family ranch house No 2(now home to Fountain View Apartments)), Solomon Morse family farmhouse(now home to Gardner Manor Retirement Community)), Rasmus Koenig family farmhouses(now home to Anthony Hardwick Jr.'s Winery), Reuben Flournoy & son Isaac Goodrich house(now home to David Hardwick Sr.'s winery)). On September 3rd 1870, Peter Piper sold his interest in all this property south side OF current day Sawyer Avenue between US 36 & I-71 for $2/$4 parceled lots!!! This area becomespresent day Wadsworth Heights neighborhood!

Wickliffe is a small town in Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe is part of the Akron–Canton, OH-KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted on July 15, 1836 by John Wickliffe and James Caldwell. The name comes from the Wyckoff family of New York City who donated land for the town site. According to one source, "Wickliffe" means "place where white people live." Located on the north side of Morrow County about northeast of downtown Akron and south of Xenia (the largest city in central Ohio), Wickliffes were pioneer farmers and developers who early cotton ginned their own cottonseed crops and manufactured goods such as shotguns and rifles. The community developed around two churches - First Presbyterian Church which was founded in 1837 and rededicated in 1868 after being burned down in 1854; Second Baptist Church which was built in 1850. In 1861 voters approved a charter for what became known as the "UTC" school district which included Wickliffe along with neighboring townships of Centerville and Uniontown. In 1916 Wickliffe's post office closed due to lack of mail service to residents within the new UTC district; it reopened on February 26, 1917 under new ownership but closed again by 1933 because of budget cuts that hurt local businesses. In 1951 WTTE television station began broadcasting from Wickliffe; it remains Ancona's only commercial broadcaster today despite its separate transmitter location several miles away from the community center on Elmwood Avenue). Alden Wirth first came to Hickory Township in 1902 when he bought 620 acres (2 km²) east-northeast of present-day Wickliffe for $5 per acre (1/4 century ago). With his two brothers - Ernst & Wilhelm Wirth - Alden started farming this property that would become much larger eventually totaling over 220 acres (10 km²) including an orchard, corn cribs, blacksmith shop and other buildings now used as apartments or businesses across three subdivisions: Hockaday Hill Estates starting off as just 12 lots long with an entrance hall leading into a home with living quarters upstairs overlooking a meadow; Maple Lawn subdivision increasing size gradually over time adding more houses until reaching its current acreage containing 184 lots; finally present day Hickory Township making up all original development plus annexation by Maple Lawn following Alden’s death in 1927 while still farming his largest piece – 226 acres (10 km²) stretching out NW to SW covering parts now occupied by Bowker Village Apartments east of US Route 11 between Willow Road/Hickory Road intersection near Lynnhaven Drive exit ramp going southbound I-75exit 6 Long Lake Drive leaving US Route 11 at Willow Road intersection then continuing NNW becoming residential areas coming together forming today’s city limits just past Hocking Hills Parkway exit ramp going ESE onto I-475 major arterial highway
The settlement of Wickliffe was founded in 1792 by Nicholas Wickliffe and his family. The town became a part of the Cincinnati area in 1821, and then took its present form in 1827. In 1896, Wickliffe was renamed Sycamore after its largest tree, which is located on Main Street.
