Wickliffe is a small town in the southeast corner of Ohio, about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Cleveland. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cuyahoga Falls–Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wickliffe is known for its Wickliffe Farms produce company and for being home to one of the largest concentrations of African Americans in Summit County. The town was founded by white settlers in 1815 as a stop on their ill-fated journey from Kentucky to find new land. At first, Wickliffe consisted only of a few families, who built log cabins and raised corn and cattle. However, over time, other settlers arrived and began farming and building homes. In 1870, when Cleveland became an independent city, Wickliffe became its first municipally chartered community. By 1890, it had grown to include a schoolhouse, grocery store, post office (now called the Kent State University Library), two churches (the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Baptist Church), four businesses—two cotton mills and two tannerys—and 12 residences. In 1912–13, during World War I efforts to stop troops from entering Akron through Wickliffe Gate led to violence that left at least 10 people dead; in response Community Development Administration Director Clarence Hargrave ordered all lights turned off at night within 100 feet (30 m) of any business or public house in town so that no one could be seen coming or going; this order was rescinded after residents objected to being terrorized nightly by soldiers on their way home from military duty. However, despite these challenges – including several fires that burned beyond control until they were extinguished by firefighters – Wickliffians persevered through the Depression years with mixed success: some managed to keep their businesses open while others lost everything due to lack of investment or banks refusing loans. In 1941–42 local resident Joe Frazier won his world heavyweight boxing title against then- champ Joe Louis at Shea Stadium in Buffalo Grove; however when he returned home later that year he found out his neighborhood had been destroyed in an air raid just days earlier during what would become known as “The Great Dayton Night Raid” – one such event which killed thousands throughout Ohio including many children playing near Second City Hall on Fairgrounds Park - leaving survivors without homes or anything else save pieces of clothing still wearable; following this tragedy many people decided not to return back into town during wartime operations But things changed starting around 1958 when Mayor Dewey Dickson appointed Clarence Hargrave as directorate for community development because he saw opportunity here given all the changes taking place throughout Summit County thanks largely to Interstate 90 which connected Akron with Cleveland proper . With increased auto traffic coming into town from suburbs like Berea Road across Town Lake there wasn’t enough space for everyone living here if they wanted access either inside or outside the city limits . So what started as simply providing services like lighting up intersections at night so drivers couldn’t see anyone coming/going ended up becoming something much more with winkler parks put together specifically for kids growing up nearby now complete with playgrounds soccer fields tennis courts water play areas etc .. The program has continued ever since with programs like "Welcome Back" weekdays between 4pm-8pm followed by "Dinner Around The Clock" every second Saturday evening raising money for various charities depending on what day it is

The device consisted of a piece of metal having a hole drilled through it at one end, through which fit a short piece of wood or other object. When tightened against the victim's windpipe, this object caused the air pressure inside the windpipe to be too high for the bullet to enter and pass out easily. The Chinese version of this choke was also designed to prevent knives from being thrown into the person's stomach or intestines. It consisted of a piece of metal with two small holes drilled in it at different points on either side, so that when tight against an opponent's windpipe there would be no way for them to throw their knife without cutting themselves. Wickliffe is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. Wickliffe was founded in 1824 by James Wickliffe and his family. In 1830, Wickliffe became a part of the new state of Michigan Territory. In 1834, Wickliffe became a part of the newly formed state of Ohio. It is named for Colonel Nathaniel Wickliffe (1795-1866), an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War who served as governor of Middle Township in Stark County. Wickliffe was originally one of eight townships in Cuyahoga County formed on November 3, 1824 from portions of former Holmesburg Township; it was named for General James Wickcliffe (1762-1837), an officer in the Indian wars and commander of Fort Pittsburgh near Akron. On December 1, 1836, Hicksville and other parts of Wexford Township were added to Wickcliffe; these townships were renamed for their respective founders: Hicksville after Captain David Hicks (1792-1857) who commanded territorial forces at Mackinac Island during winter months; Wexford after Josiah Wexford (1768-1838), one of the first white settlers in what is now Cuyahaga County; and Wickcliffe after Colonel Nathaniel Wickcliffe (1800-1847). On February 21, 1850, more than three years after its incorporation as a town, Wicklife had 607 residents when it voted to change its name to Wadsworth because that is where General John Wadsworth's home was located before he moved to Wadsworth Heights on Mayflower Road. However only 153 people lived there by 1860 due to increasing travel within and outside Ohio while also experiencing difficulties with land ownership being unavailable until later that year leading some citizens to move back into their homes when available space became available again. The post office at Wadsworth until 1861 service was mainly agricultural with local farmers sending goods directly to Toledo via canal boatloads or wagon trains carrying produce downriver each month or so depending on weather conditions which would cause salt water levels to drop then rising again making shipping difficult due to high current speeds both upriver & downriver - this caused many jams involving wagons loaded with salt pork going all the way from Newark Delaware down river past Toledo past Erie Canal into Lake Erie without getting off any land/landing anywhere else! In fact one such event occurred on October 15th 1851 when more than 100 wagons arrived at Village Hall dock just west side OF THE GRAVES just as fog started rolling IN despite high expectations following Typhoon Lena which had made landfall about 30 miles south east near Strongsville causing widespread fires along much southern OH coast including parts Of Cleveland Bay!
