In the early 1800s, the town of Whitehall in Ohio was a thriving community. The population had grown to over 1,000 by 1810 and it continued to grow until the late 1800s. The town was made up of several different settlements that grew together over time. One of these settlements was Whitehall Township. Whitehall Township was organized on April 14, 1796 by order of President George Washington and named for General Nathanael Greene, who had fought with Washington during the American Revolution. The township included land that is now part of Akron and served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. The first settlers in Whitehall were farmers who started out farming maize and beans but soon discovered potatoes and other crops were more profitable. They also developed a mill which produced flour, salt, soapstone chips, candles, cheese and other goods for sale in nearby towns. By 1802, there were about fifty households living in Whitehall Township with a total population of around 350 people. One important event that took place during this time period was the Battle of Fallen Timbers which saw General John Green defeat Native Americans at what is now known as Fort Mifflin near Akron. This victory helped increase trade between Ohio and Pennsylvania and helped establish Whitehall as an important commercial center within Great Britain's colonies (Canada included). A new courthouse was built in 1812 which became operational on July 1st that same year. It would serve as the court house until 1830 when it moved to downtown Akron to be closer to businesses (it still remains standing today). During this time period there also began construction on what is now known as Pruitt House which housed government officials such as county commissioners and justices of peace while they exercised their powers from home/at their own expense (compared to later times where politicians resided in hotels). In addition, some homes within Whitehall Township were converted into schools starting in 1814-15; one such school being called “White Hall Academy” which operated until 1889 When it burned down due to an accident! In 1865-66 white students from nearby Woodward High School integrated into local black schools through busing so white students could continue attending school without fear of discrimination

AfterJamesWhite’s death in 1825, his son John took over management of the business while grandson Amos ran the house-hold affairs until 1830 when Amos’ wife died giving birth to another child than Amos had originally planned on having! It wasn’t until 1840 when another son named George came along who started marketing goods at local fairs! Eventually, four sons – John (1841-65), George (1846-76), Abram (1849-63) and Solomon (1855-72) – took over running everything at Whiteshall while their father remained at home full time! By 1865, Whitesellans numbered 905 individuals making it one of America’s smallest cities by then! However, due to Hurricane Andrew which hit Cleveland that year, things changed drastically for Whiteshall as almost all its citizens evacuated before anything really happened within the community! Nowadays though, you can still find many reminders of what once happened here like old buildings or historical artifacts scattered throughout town!!!
