The first optical accessory store in Whitehall, Ohio was opened in 1888 by J.C. Morton and Sons. The store was located on the corner of Elm and High Streets. In 1907, the store moved to its current location on Third Street. In 1915, Morton's Son Limited merged with Wm. Hogg & Sons Company to form the Whitehall Chain Store Corporation. The chain soon became well known for its high-quality optical products. In 1948, the company changed its name to Whitehall Optical Corporation. The company continued to produce quality optical products until it closed in 1984.
Whitehall is a small town in the Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to settle in Whitehall were early pioneers John and Anna Stephens who arrived in 1793. They started a gristmill on the Scioto River and opened up a store and post office there. In 1817, they built a log cabin on what is now Main Street which they named "Whitehall". The first school was taught by Rev. James Cook from 1819-1821 in a log cabin near present day Church Road. A subscription school for white children was started in 1828 by Mrs. Jane Brown and Xanthippe French with $1 per month from parents or friends; this school operated until 1840 when it burned down due to bad weather conditions. A new subscription school building was erected on Church Road between Third and Fourth Streets in 1830; this building served as the local courthouse from 1830-1850 inclusive (the first courthouse in Ohio). In 1850, Whitehall had just over 100 residents when it became the site of Washington College (later known as University of Toledo). The college offered high schools diploma programs but did not offer undergraduate degrees until 1907 when it merged with Case Western Reserve University to form Case Western Reserve University–Toledo. In 1906, Whitehall's businesses amalgamated into Oneida Manufacturing Company which became one of America's largest manufacturers of sewing machines before merging into Singer Sewing Machines Corporation in 1973 after 146 years of business operations In 1949, voters approved an amendment to the municipal charter allowing for independent Grades 9 through 12 education within Whitehall village limits without parental consent or approval; this amendment led to growth at Washington College leading to its establishment as one of Ohio's leading private colleges with undergraduate degree programs starting in 1957 Since then, there have been many changes taking place within Whitehall village including: 1990 - First professional football team coached by head coach Jeff Driskel played their home games at Washington College Stadium known today as “The House” while also playing other local leagues 2001 - The Village renovated all buildings except one – that still stands vacant since fire destroyed most structures 3 years earlier during renovation project 2004 - Voters passed a resolution recognizing National Trails Day - May 15th 2004 2005 - New elementary school built next door to original middle/high School which closed after only 5 years due primarily to low enrollment rates echoing issues raised about old elementary School across town

Whitehall, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located just east of the mouth of the Muskingum River. The town was founded by German settlers in 1814 and named for its original owner, John Whitehall. Whitehall was one of twenty-seven townships consolidated into the new Unorganized Territory of western Pennsylvania in 1827. In 1836, it became part of the newly created Coshocton County, Ohio. After becoming part of the United States in 1776, Washingtoniana Township included Whitehall as part of its territory within the limits established by Congress for that purpose. The first settler to arrive in what is now Whitehall was Johannes Grosse who settled there on October 12th 1814 with his family and six other families from Hameln am Rhein (now Hamm). Grosse built a log cabin which still stands today at corner of Main and Elm Streets. He also ran a sawmill which produced lumber for buildings and fences until 1840 when he sold it to David Kappel who operated it until 1862 when he sold it to Jacob Gehring who operated it until 1880 when it was taken over by George Wills who operated it until 1906 when it was passed down to his son Aloysius Wills Jr., who currently operates It today as an antique store and museum .
Whitehall was a village in Hardin County, Ohio, United States. The village was established in 1853 as part of the proposed town of Athens, and failed to take hold. It was abandoned following the American Civil War. In 1881, Whitehall again became an unincorporated community when its post office closed.
