This annexation led to increased demand for space within the existing boundaries of Whitehall – something that would later be seen as beneficial when it came to development considering that North Side Park would become one of downtown’s key attractions during its early years as a city Limits neighborhood

In 1836, Whitehall had its own school board and started to build a new schoolhouse which would become one of Ohio's most popular tourist destinations. In 1840, Whitehall also acquired land for an industrial park which would later become known as the “Mansion State Park”. This development helped to revive the town's economy and support increased growth rates throughout the 19th century. During this time, Whitehall also became home to several notable people including Governor Nicholas Cooke (1841-1847), Mayor Lewis Cass (1851-1857), Congressman John Atherton (1859-1901), Mrs. Julia Ward Howe (born Julia Ann Thayer; 1865-1926), president Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933-1945) and many more notable Ohioans. In 1951, Whitehall again gained notoriety when it became host city for both the Republican National Convention as well as World War II Victory Day celebration ceremonies across downtown Chicago that attracted over 150 thousand visitors from all over America! Over time, though some changes have occurred such as losing its status as an agricultural center due to suburbanization efforts within commuting distance;Whitehall has continued to maintain significant aspects of its rural character including its wide open spaces surrounded by rolling hillsides rich in farmland memories dating back centuries!
