Whitehall is a town in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,683 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first white settler in what is now Whitehall was John C. White in 1802. He and his family were among the original settlers of the township that would become Whitehall Township in 1824; it was named for him. At one time, Whitehall had as many as eight churches and a school system which served over 600 residents. In 1847, local landowner Zebulon Pike donated land to build the first courthouse in Franklin County; it was completed in 1850 and remains extant today as the Court House Annex Building on High Street. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Union General Ulysses S. Grant ordered all male citizens of Franklin County to come into service with their military units or be drafted into Confederate troops; this order caused a large number of Whites to flee to neighboring towns such as Portsmouth and Chillicothe. Most of these people returned home after the war ended but some stayed until 1870 when an act passed by Ohio's state legislature resulted in them being forced out of their homes again by Act No., 3161 (1870), known as "The Blacks Banishment Act". This legislation stripped Whites of all civil rights within Franklin County within six months after its passage and effectively ended any chance they had at rebuilding their lives following Reconstruction-era America. During World War II, several thousand German Americans living near Scrantonburg were interned there from December 1942 until May 1945 following orders from President Roosevelt.; about two-thirds of these individuals were eventually released back into society through Operation Paperclip following Allied victory over Adolf Hitler's Axis powers during World War II.. Whitehall has experienced various forms of economic growth throughout its history including professional farming during early days when settlers raised poultry, hogs and corn; manufacturing starting with shoeshine parlors before becoming more significant with production plants for paper products such as diapers and laundry detergent; commercial agriculture has continued up through present day with growing crops like soybeans, cornstalks and cotton being grown for food services such as restaurants/markets or fuel sales; residential construction took off starting around 1950 when developers began building subdivisions across central Ohio specifically designed for whites who wanted access to quality suburban neighborhoods without having to leave their homes conventially segregated by race

Whitehall, Ohio is located in the U.S. state of Ohio and is a city on the Scioto River. The population was 24,413 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Whitehall was James Gist who arrived in 1800 with his family from Kentucky. He built a cabin on what is now High Street and named it after himself, White Hall (now called Gist Place). In 1802, he married Susannah Hoadly and together they started a small farm that grew to include 4 farms including Whitehall (later renamed Garden City) and New Harmony (now known as Northfield). In 1807, General William Henry Harrison moved his army through western Ohio during the War of 1812 and passed through Whitehall on his way to battle against Canada near Lake Erie. After the war's end, Harrison returned to Cleveland where he died in 1828 at age 72 years old. In 1830, John Fenton purchased land east of High Street from James Gist for $2 per acre ($40 per square mile). By 1840, Fenton had erected a frame house on what is now Elmira Avenue which he called "Fenton's Fort". In 1850s & 1860s, more settlers arrived here- among them were two brothers named Hiram Chisholm and David Chisholm who founded Delaware Township west of town in 1861. In 1865-1866 when Union troops burned down much of downtown Columbus due to political reasons following Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation – many residents fled into Whiteland until finally getting permits from State authorities to remain in Whitehall; these people are now known as "Old Hamiltonians". The settlement continued to grow throughout this time but faced various difficulties such as floods caused by rains or snowmelt that destroyed homes or caused crops to fail; however some individuals persisted such as Ebenezer Horton who began developing a flour mill around 1870 while also raising chickens and selling eggs door-to-door. By 1888 there were over 350 people living here with 100 businesses providing jobs for locals However by 1901 only 26 people remained living here with 10 businesses operating; however Whiteland still enjoyed high levels of social activity thanks largely to its annual fair which drew visitors from all over town. The fair became an important fundraiser for local charities and helped maintain community spirit well into the 21st century.< ref /> Finally by 2000 only 15 people remained living here with 5 businesses active - however Whiteland continues play an important role within Columbus' history nonetheless!
Whitehall was a small town in southeastern Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1814 by the brothers Nicholas and John Whitehall, who named it for their father, James Whitehall. The town grew slowly until its population reached 1,500 in 1830. It declined during the mid-19th century as new settlements were established around the area. In 1881, Whitehall became part of the newly created Grant County and lost its autonomy when that county was merged into Wyandotte County.
