It is no secret that the history of gun sights in Westlake, Ohio goes back to at least 1852. The first rifles used sights that were either cast iron or brass and many still are today. In 1876, ORA members helped form the National Rifle Association (NRA) and soon began to lobby for stronger gun rights laws. In 1934, NRA founder George Mason organized a convention in Indianapolis that approved the passage of the National Firearms Act (NFA). This law gave individuals with permits to buy firearms greater access to these weapons and also allowed for gun registration.
Westlake, Ohio is a small town located in the central part of Ohio. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. Westlake is home to four schools: Alvernia High School, Beavercreek Middle School, North Central High School and Westlake Academy. It also has a library and several businesses including an auto dealership. Westlake is known for its rich history and architecture which can be found on mainstreet intersections throughout the town. The first settlers in what is now Westlake arrived in 1800 and founded the town on land that they acquired from the Shawnee people. The name "Westlake" comes from two Indian words – westering meaning "to turn around or away" and lake means "watercourse." The community's growth began during World War II when many White American servicemen were drafted into service in Europe. Many of these soldiers returned after the war and started families in West Lake. After the war, many new businesses opened up in downtown West Lake such as a restaurant called Zipper's (now closed) and Schumacher's Hardware store which still stands today on Washington Street near Main Street. Today, there are many restaurants and bars downtown as well as shopping areas available nearby including Village Square Shopping Center on State Route 33 south of town center and North Central Shopping mall off US-Highway 4 east of town center. Anna County Fairgrounds is located just northwest of town limits across SR-33 from North Central High School along with several park areas such as Orange stadium within walking distance for sports enthusiasts or easy access to picnics/festivals etc., especially during summer months.

Westlake Village is a census-designated place in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,814 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Westlake was laid out by George Smith in 1811 and named for John Wesley West (1775–1846), an American missionary to India who helped found Methodism in that country. The first post office at Westlake was established in 1813.The village became a town in 1834 and became a city within the city limits of Akron on November 15, 1968. The current mayor is Democrat Frank Gaffney with no term expiring until 2020. The community took its name from John Wesley West and his wife Hannah Ware (1792-1865). Hannah's greatgrandfather, Elijah Ware, had been born near what is now Westlake Village and moved to nearby Fairfield Township when he was about 20 years old. In 1792 he married Rachel Hill (1769-1847), daughter of Nicholas Hill, one of the founders of Fairfield Township. They had four children: Sarah (1794-1860), ELijah (1801-68), Anna Maria (1802-72) and Lucy Eliza Howe Potter Hoskins Ware (1805-90). What began as one small settlement soon grew into an agricultural district encompassing much of Muskegon County; by 1830 it boasted some 4500 residents east of Worthington Road south to Steubenville Lake along the Maumee River whereupon they turned their attention to establishing canalszoogea oat mills on Long Lake Erie above Canoga Park which they did beginning in 1840; these were joined by other mills around this time including those at Westerville on Perkiomen Creek southwest of today's Akron suburb Zionsville also founded about this time.) In 1837 Samuel Spencer bought 11 acres adjoining what are now North Mohawk Drive and East Walnut Street for $1 cash only - Ground was broken February 8th following a rainstorm - Spencer intended it as a model farmstead for modern society."A Model Village" has been preserved at 6255 Walnut Rd., adjacent to Our Lady Of Peace School since 1957 "This land" included parts now constituting portions of neighboring communities such as Saugus and Hudson Heights while most notably including Queen Anne's Chapel which still stands today adjacent to what would become Homestead Drive/Olde English schoolhouse - see map below .) Spencer provided that every kind of fruit trees be planted together with rows between them so Windmills could be erected annually "(and eventually built)to turn our raw materials into finished articles") Today we know all too well how his dream came true once 200 homes were put up there followed shortly thereafter by 3000 more.......Today many people take pride knowing their ancestor(s) populate many places like Home Depot or Macy's...!
