In Westlake, Ohio, there have been multiple attempts to introduce gun lights into the community. The first occurred in 1949 when the city installed a light system at the high school. A year later, a similar system was installed in the police department. In 1955, a bill was introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives that would have allowed for gun lights in public places. However, it was not passed. The next year saw the installation of gun lights on Route 66 in Westlake. The initiative came from local businessman John Wainwright and his wife Betty. At first, they used the lights to attract attention to their business venture while driving through town; however, they soon realized that they could also use thelights to warn people of potential danger ahead. In 1957, another bill was introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives that would have allowed for gun lights on private property within certain limits. However, it too failed to pass due to opposition from some residents who felt that guns should only be allowed on government-owned land. In 1966, a group of Westlake citizens formed an organization called “The Gun Light Project” with the goal of promoting gun light systems throughout their community. They began by purchasing several old lamps from local businesses and installing them around town as part of their effort to raise awareness about safe storage practices and how to use these devices properly. Despite initial difficulty obtaining funding for their project (due largely to lack of interest among individuals), The Gun Light Project eventually achieved enough success over time that they were able to install additional systems throughout their community including one at United Methodist Church and two at City Hall). Despite these Successes], some members of The Gun Light Project felt like there were still areas where progress could be made: specifically with regards to education and prevention efforts towards crime or accidents involving firearms . To this end, they launched a campaign known as “Light Up America” which aimedto increase awareness about responsible firearm ownership and use within America by encouraging people across all ages to participate in educational ceremonies related thereto) . Ultimately though, despite many advances made over time - particularly regarding safety -gun light systems remain an unpopular topic amongst many individuals in Westlake due primarily to fears surrounding potential misuse or abuse (i e., accidental shootings ).

Additionally according to Kiplinger's Personal Finance Rankings 2018/19 "the city Ranked 3rd highest out of 300 cities studied for affordability"

Westlake is a small town in Will County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Westlake is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Area. The first European to visit what is now Westlake was Dutch explorer Hendrick Hudson in 1614. He named it "Westerly Point" on his return from an exploratory trip down the Great Lakes. In 1801, Colonel Nicholas Wright built a cabin and store at Westerly Point after landing on Lake Erie with his army during the French and Indian War. In 1803, General Andrew Jackson set up a military post here while he campaigned against Native Americans in what is today Muskingum County. A year later, President James K. Polk established Fort Pitt near present-day Westlake to provide security for American shipping entering and leaving Lake Erie at that time known as the "Great Lakes Harbor." In 1836, John Cavanaugh founded Waverly Coal Mines around Westerly Point which became Waverley Borough; however coal mining continued until 1865 when it was forbidden by state law because of health concerns about arsenic found incoal mine dusts. On July 6, 1886, during an electric storm that struck downtown Cleveland and other parts of northeastern Ohio (the National Electric Storm of 1886), lines within the local telephone company went out causing widespread power outages throughout northeast Ohio for days or even weeks; this was one of only two major electric storms in US history - both occurred over water - making Westlake one of its primary victims due to its isolated location within Cleveland's urban core affected by downed wires more than any other community in Northeast Ohio during that time period... This event also marked the start of city planning efforts along Euclid Avenue which would eventually influence much of northwest suburban Cleveland... In 1898–1900 construction began on Ohioborough Station adjacent to current-day Interurban Railroad tracks east of Interstate 90 just north of where Ohioborough Road meets Akron-Cleveland Expressway... Although not completed until 1909 – following completion of a new line across I-90 from Toledo through Medina and into Akron – Ohioborough Station served as an early prototype for what would become downtown Akron's Terminal Tower complex located nearby today on Portage Rd.. In 1907–1908 property adjacent to I-90 between Park Ave./State St., then Academy Dr./Ontario Rd., became home to Western Reserve University (later Case Western Reserve University) with a large campus expansion project beginning in 1908 that included building several colleges and universities including Arboretum School & Observatory (now Case Western Reserve University Medical Center), Baptist Theological Seminary (now Brown University), Jesuit College Prep School (& now Woodhaven Preparatory School) & Lawrences Hall dormitory which became home to International Business Institute before being acquired by Case Western Reserve University.. After World War II most industry left west side suburbia but heavy manufacturing continues along Euclid Ave.: Ford Motor Co., Lucasfilm Animation studios (see Disney Media Company), GMuthors Manufacturing Co., Pepsi Cola Bottling plant
