In 1827, Westlake became a military post but it soon fell out of favor with American president Andrew Jackson because itemedly too pro-British. It wasn't until after his death in 1832 thatWestlake regained its status as an important center for business and political life in Ohio. Throughout its history, West Lake has been home to many notable people including: James K Polk (1811-1832), Jesse Livermore (1847-1923), Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809-94), John F Kennedy (1917-1963), Michael Jordan (1984-2018) and LeBron James (2002-2018).
Westlake is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the eastern border of Butler County and the city of Cleveland. The population was 27,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron Combined statistical area. The town was established in 1830 by Joshua Silliman and his brother George Washington Silliman, who named it after their home in Westville, England. The first settler arrived in 1833, when John Gadsden bought land from James Waddell for $2 per acre (1/4 acre = £0.50). In 1836, Westlake became a village under the name "Westlake Heights." On July 1, 1847, it changed its name to "Westlake". In 1902 it merged with neighbouring communities of Mayfield and Strongsville to form the current Town of Westlake. According tothe 2000 US Census there were 25Full-time residents (other than emergency responders) living in Westlake; 11 Part-time residents (who work full time elsewhere but volunteer to help with community services); 5 Civilian employees working for county government; 2 Military personnel serving on military bases within an hour's drive; 3 dogs walking visitors through downtown streets; 9 cats walking visitors through downtown streets; and no humans residing permanently or seasonally outside their homes which includes overnight guests during school vacations or summer break weeks when families are out of town for vacation purposes only According to2010 US Census data: 24 Full-time residents (of whom 15 worked full time elsewhere); 10 Part-time residents (10 working part time only because they volunteered too) According to2015 American Community Survey Data: There are now 22 people living permanently here who are not employed outside their homes including overnight guests during school breaks or summers during family vacations - this number has grown by 8 people since 2010

Westlake is a town in southern Ohio, located on the border of Lucas County and Hendricks County. The population was 10,902 at the 2010 census. Westlake is part of the Dayton metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Westlake was Nicholas Hildebrandt in 1796. He built a cabin on the banks of the Scioto River. In 1812, John Coudert settled here and founded Coudert's Store which still stands today as one of the oldest businesses in Westlake. In 1814, German immigrant Johann Friedrich Holzbauer bought land at this location and named it "West Lake". He built a gristmill there and started to raise corn, hay and other crops until he sold his land to George Hardin in 1825. Hardin renamed his property "Ohio Hill" after President James Ketchum (1795-1865), who had helped him purchase his land. In 1830, Samuel Silliman erected a small log cabin near present day Ohio Street and High Street for use as a home or office. A few years later, he moved his business to what is now First Baptist Church across from Superior Avenue on state Route 904 (now Eastgate Road). Samuel Silliman also dug a well there which became an important early water source for Westlake residents. Some of the earliest settlers were William Harrison Griggs (1801-1875), George Winton (c 1809 - d 1865) , John Grosse (b c 1820), Augustus Enright (b c 1830), Martin Shaffer(died 1861) , Jesse Granger(b c 1840) . Westlake is a census-designated place in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,987 at the 2000 census. The name comes from the Westlake Hills neighborhood of Cleveland, which is adjacent to the community.
