Westerville, Ohio is a small city in the U.S. state ofOhio and the county seat of Champaign County. The population was 146 at the 2010 census. Westerville is located on the Scioto River, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Columbus and 30 miles (48 km) west of Dayton. It has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Csb" on climate maps. The first permanent settler in what is now Westerville was James White in 1797. In 1811, John Prentice built a dam across the Scioto River to power his flour mill; this area became known as White's Mill Village because it housed the mills until 1892 when they were moved to Champaign County. The village site remains today as part of Westerville's commercial district and public market square which also includes several shopping malls and churches dating back tothe early 1800s. In 1837, Rev. Amos Barton purchased land on which he erected a large brick church and school house for use as a town meeting place for his new community called Bartonstown (now Huntington). In 1850, Westerville became an incorporated town with a population of fifty-six people under its first charter granted by the General Assembly under Article V, Section 2 of the United States Constitution via Act No 10595 from March 26th through April 1st, 1850; it contained no limits other than that it should be "an hundred miles square." On July 1st 1860 through an act passed by Congress that same year--section 3362 of Revised Statutes--Westerville became one mile wide within its original boundaries having increased its size by sixsquareblocks since 1837 when only seventy-eight acres (27 ha) remained within its original borders making up present day portions of Urbana Heights/West Side/East Side neighborhoods annexed into Westerville Township between 1913 - 1933 inclusive while all other unincorporated areas withinChampaign County including parts annexed from Kendall/Urbana Heights during this time remain untouched examples testifying to strong local demand for incorporation throughout much central Illinois during this period not only due to growing populations but also economic reasons given that transportation costs then were far below those currently charged relative to current prices particularly considering distances traveled these days particularly if using mass transit options such as rideshare or Uber Pooling It wasn't until after passage in 1912 thru an act entitled An Act To Provide For Dissolution Of The City Of Westervil

Westerville is an unincorporated community in the U.S. state of Ohio, located at the junction of State Route 6 and State Route 711. It was platted in 1824 by John Westervelt and post office operated from 1825 to 1829. The community was named for troops who fought during the American Civil War, including General James K. Polk. A few years after Westerville's founding, a waterworks was built to supply the town with water from a small creek that ran through it. By 1830, the town had a population of about 100 residents and two stores. A school was built in 1830 and became operational in 1834; it educated local children until 1915 when it closed due to financial difficulties. In 1840, Westerville had 5 residents and 2 stores; by 1850, its population had grown to 25 residents and 4 stores. In 1865, a new courthouse/ jail was completed; it served as the town hall until 1902 when it burned down. By 1900-1901, there were only 10 residents living in Westerville proper while 3-5 families lived on Long Valley Road outside of town limits (present-day East Side Townships). In 1902-03, annexation by Youngstown made Westerville an even smaller community with just 15 residents living inside its borders while 5-10 families lived on Long Valley Road outside of town limits (present day East Side Townships). However, within 2 decades – after annexing much larger Youngstown – Westerville's population swelled to over 200 people with 12 businesses operating inside its boundaries between 1910-1920! The growth of this small but powerful community can be seen throughout its history as various businesses prospered thanks to their access to newer highways which allowed them easier marketing reachability than their competitors - thriving despite difficult economic times! 2 schools operated within Westerville’s boundaries: one elementary school established in 1911 (closed 1915) and replaced by Day Middle School; also opened were West High School “in process” from 1919 until 1951 before finally closing along with all other high schools in 1961; another elementary school established 1935 concurrent with Widener Elementary School – now known as Parkland Academy – which closed 1975 amid controversy over teacher shortages caused by suburbanization & machine learning technology Advancement Heights Charter Schools operates today asdistrict No 1 public charter high school serving students prekindergarten through 8th grade providing essential education opportunities for students across east central Ohio
Westerville was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Westervelt and his wife, Susanna. The town was named after the Westervelt farmstead on the west side of the Scioto River. In 1836, the town became a county seat and remained so until it merged with Darke County in 1903.
