There is no doubt that the gun choke was a significant weapon in Westerville’s history. One of the first guns to be choked with a gun choke was an American Rifle Company revolver, which was made in 1876. The use of this type of firearm became increasingly common throughout the 1880s, and by 1890, more than 50% of all handguns in America had been hampered with a gun choke. The development of the safety catch on firearms helped make choking weapons less attractive to criminals, and also made them more difficult for uninformed individuals to obtainhold of firearms. Additionally, the ban on importation into the United States during World War II made it even harder for criminals to obtain firearms illegally. As a result, gun chokes slowly began disappearing from American arsenals over the course of the 20th century.

This choke is named after Colonel Kelly who developed it in the early 1800s. The Kelly choke is a unique choke that works best when used with pistols that have barrels that are less than 18 inches in length. Other types of guns, such as rifles, may also be choked using this type of choke. Westerville is a city in the state of Ohio, United States. The population was 54,871 at the 2010 census. Westerville is the most populous city in Lucas County and one of the largest cities in Ohio. It lies on the Scioto River and is bordered by Summit Township to the east, Findlay Township to the north, and Napoleon Township to the west. The first settler in what would become Westerville was John Denton in 1811. He built a cabin on what is now State Route 422. The first store was opened in 1827 by Nicholas Gorgonzola, who also founded Gorgonzola Brewery & Distillery adjacent to his business on Main Street today known as Gorgonzola's Roadhouse (and still has its sign). In 1830 John Witherspoon established a sawmill on Lebanon Creek just south of present-day State Route 422 which became one of Westervilers early successes. In 1831 Witherspoon married Lydia Cochran and they began farming land near their home on Strawberry Lane. They raised chickens and pigs until 1840 when they moved their operation to their current location on First Street between Elmwood Drive and University Avenue NW where they continued operations for over 50 years until their death in 1951; six years after Witherspoon's death Lydia gave birth to her only child, Phebe Hesseltine Witherspoon Johnson II., who later became an actress and political activist in Ohio. During World War II there were several factories located within walking distance of Westerville including Carrier Corporation’s Dayton plant that produced aircraft parts during 1939-1945; Republic Aviation’s Youngstown plant that manufactured aircraft engines beginning 1942; American Bantam Aircraft Company’s Toledo plant producing “Toledo Rockets” during 1944-1945) However these plants closed or were converted into other businesses after the war ended without leaving any lasting effects on our townscape or economy except for a few memories shared by those who worked there long ago... In 1950 Bob Price founded Price Paper Products which remains headquartered here today with its original paper mill building still standing along Front Street next door to Post Office Alley... And finally four miles down Front Street from downtown are two small shopping centers anchored by JCPenney (one from 1924) and Sears Roebuck (opened 1967) - all evidence that this once vibrant town never really went away... Although many residents have long since passed away or moved away, some aspects of life remain very much alive such as Pioneer Days each July 4th like marching band/piper parade through Downtown followed by live music at Westcott Lounge before dinner at Hanna's Italian Cafe & Pasta House

The area now known as Westerville was first settled by Europeans in the early 1800s. The town was founded on the site of an old Indian fort, and it became a manufacturing center during the late 1800s. In 1919, Westerville organized itself into a city, and it has since grown into one of Ohio's largest cities.
