West Carrollton City is a small town in northwestern Ohio, United States. The population was 2,853 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Ottawa– metastate region of the Midwest. The community is named after General Robert E. Lee and his wife Mary Anna West, who were killed during the American Civil War. The town was founded on October 1, 1837 by farmers from neighboring North Carroll Township. On December 12, 1839, it incorporated as a village. In 1830 and 1831, West Carrollton purchased land from the tribe of Shawnees living there. That same year, settlers arrived from Pennsylvania with the intention of building a cotton plantation near what is now Cincinnati (then called Northwest Territory). However, when they encountered Native Americans for the first time and learned their language and culture, they abandoned their plans to start a cotton plantation and instead sent their families back home to carry out farming operations in what would become West Carrollton City. In 1836-1837 two deeds were filed with Clark County recorder's office recording that Representative James Kapp had donated 640 acres (24 hectares) of land to be used as an agricultural township or rural school district; this act became official government policy on July 1st of that year when Ohio passed its state Constitution under which township boundaries were established according to population size rather than townships having been set up by legislative decree earlier in the decade only for –RGB colorblind people – thereby including some communities like North Carroll Township (which included present day Warsaw), which had no Indian residents at all but still enjoyed township status because it was adjacent to Greenfield Township on both sides of High Street where river traffic crossed easily between these two villages; also part of Greenfield Township since 1792 until its annexation by Warsaw in 1800; finally note: According to map dated November 3rd 1861 drawn by surveyor Wm Fenton accompanyin g plat map "Map No 8" prepared for Deed Book 469 pages 9 x 12 inches Entered into By Rufus Humboldt As Agent For The Village Of West Carrollton On May 7th 1860 Page 25 & 26" The original name given to this tract including today's village was Prairie View but eventually shortened form due mostly to protestations that "Prairie View" sounded too much like "Prairieview Heights". West Carrollton City, Ohio is a city in the Miami-Dade County, Florida area. The population was 26,206 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade County. West Carrollton City began as a small frontier town in 1827 and was incorporated as a city on December 12, 1903. The name "West Carrollton" comes from one of two places in America that were named for General James Wayne: West Point on Long Island and Carrolltown near Allegheny River in Pennsylvania. The first white settlers arrived in what is now Miami-Dade County around 1827. A group of Irishmen led by Captain Daniel Boone came overland from Kentucky to survey the area which would become known as Miami Dade County. The first house built in what is now West Carrollton was erected by John Sowers on October 17, 1827 at what is now Northwest Second Street and Congress Avenue. At this time there were only three families living in the area: Sowers’s family, Thomas Poole’s family and Elijah White’s family. In 1830 John Sowers sold his land to Christopher Wagoner who founded Key Biscayne Township south of where Flagler Road meets NW 2nd Street today. On November 3, 1830 Wagoner married Mary Geiger who was also born about 1830 near present day NW 4th Street and Congress Avenue into an old German immigrant family from Schuylkill County, PA (Citizenship records show her father to be Johann Georg Geiger). Their baby boy would later become famous Ulysses S Grant when he became President of the United States in 1877
