The first firearm that was ever made in West Carrollton City was a rifle called the "Muskingum Rifle." It was created by John Davenport and it saw use in the American Revolution. The rifle was designed to shoot arrows instead of bullets because this would make it easier for people to fight against British forces. After the Revolution, Davenport started manufacturing rifles in West Carrollton City again and he also began selling them locally. In 1829, he started producing shotguns too which helped attract more customers to his business. By 1830, Davenport had become so successful that he decided to move his business into larger buildings downtown instead of staying at his old house near the river bank anymore

West Carrollton City is a census-designated place in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The population was 14,159 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH metropolitan area. The city was founded by George West and others in 1855 as a small settlement on the west side of what is now Fairfield Avenue in the Scioto Valley. In 1865, it became a borough when it wedged between Scioto Township to the east and Union Township to the west. On July 1, 1903, West Carrollton merged with nearby Uniontown to become one municipality with a population of 20,000 people. That merger also createdonthe northernmost municipal corporation in Ohio that survived until 1963 when Erie Township split from Lorain County and became its own municipality. The Economy of West Carrollton City has been strong for many years due to manufacturing plants located there such as Carrier Corporation's Trimac plant (now known as United Technologies), GM's Case Automotive Plant (now known as JDS Uniphase), Eastman Kodak's ink production facility (Now known as Avery Dennison) and Procter & Gamble's Enville Manufacturing Company which produced Ivory soap until 1984 when it closed down due to competition from Lululemon Athletica Inc.. Additionally there are several service companies based within town including Meyersdale Electric Cooperative/Waterfront Services which provides electricity, water and Sewerage services; Allstate Insurance; Verizon Wireless; Oneida Local School District; Chippendale Pharmacy which provides affordable medications for patients before their visit to local pharmacies.; and numerous small businesses that provide basic needs like groceries, plumbing supplies or internet access

In 1814, West Carrollton was established as the first village in what is now the city of Cleveland. The area that would become West Carrollton was part of the Northwest Territory which was organized in 1792. The territory included all of present-day Cleveland and a small portion of Akron. In 1814, Samuel Wilson founded the Village of West Carrollton on land he had purchased from John Graves Simons. The village consisted of a plat of land that ran north-south between Superior Street and Euclid Avenue. It was named for Captain James West, who had fought in the Battle of Fallen Timbers in October 1813. The Village had two stores, one run by John Witherspoon and one by Jno. Hennepin (the father-in-law of President James K. Polk). A school was also built at this time with an enrollment of ten students. In 1830, General Tom Thayer donated land to the village for a public square which would serve as a center for commerce and culture within the town limits. This square eventually became known as Market Square Park and remains today one of downtown Cleveland’s most popular tourist destinations. West Carrollton experienced some growth during its early years but ultimately failed to achieve any major commercial or cultural successes like its predecessor did; however, it did experience some key changes that helped define its modern form: 1) In 1835, Captain George Stephenson donated 20 acres east of Market Square to make way for what is now Tiffany’s Department Store – oneofthelargestandmost important commerical buildings in downtown Cleveland; 2) In 1840, when Ohio became a state,West Carrollton voted to annex intoCLEVELAND COUNTY; 3) In1847theVillageadoptedanewname——WestCarrolltonCity; 4) By 1870WWIIhad intervenedandWestCarrolltonbecameAFFAIRSTOWN——a military airbase until it closed in 1957; 5) Finally, by 1974allofthelandthathad been donatedtoWestCarrolltonbySamuelWilsonwasdevotedtoFARLEY PARKS—an environmental park located adjacent toCleveland Hopkins International Airport
On October 15, 1803, West Carrollton was founded when a group of farmers led by Capt. James McGillis platted the land east of the public square on which it stands today. The town's first post office was established in 1806 and its first store was built in 1808. In 1812, West Carrollton became part of the Tuscarawas County district. On November 6, 1830, the county seat of Tuscarawas County was moved from Vandalia to West Carrollton. In 1861, Ohio Congressman John Pemberton introduced a bill to create an Indian Reservations District in western Ohio for the Creek Nation. The bill failed but later became law with approval by President Abraham Lincoln as Part IV of the Indian Removal Act of 1862. The Cherokee Nation had been living in present-day Oklahoma since before French traders met them there in 1795 while exploring what is now eastern Alabama and northeastern Tennessee; they were driven out by Ulysses S. Grant's military campaigns during Reconstruction beginning in 1865. West Carrollton experienced rapid growth following ratification of the act and by 1870 it had over 100 residents, including 20 ministers and 10 schoolteachers). By 1900 there were 1,500 people living in what is now West Carrollton City; manufacturing played a significant role in this growth with businesses such as blacksmiths, foundry owners and wagonmakers prospering during this time period. However, World War I interrupted these progressivism-driven times and slowed down population growth until after World War II when new suburbs emerged inspired by education opportunities available within Cleveland - starting with Euclid Heights (now Cleveland Heights) - although some industry continued to thrive into the 21st century such as auto production at Lorain Valley Manufacturing Company located just outside city limits until its closure in 2003 followed by related employment at Jiffy Lube across downtown serving area residents for more than 50 years
